Dr Charlotte D’Souza – White Swan Aesthetics
June 13, 2019
Growing old gracefully is all very well if you’re lucky with your genes, and I am quite lucky, the women on my side of the family have always ‘looked good for their age’, but there’s no harm in a little extra help, is there? That said, the frozen face her plump lips look is rather unattractive and now a little passé.
I do pride myself in looking after my skin and using the correct products to maintain a healthy complexion, without the need for too much make-up, but I have to admit I indulge in a spot of filler and Botox every two years or so. I do my research to ensure I go to a true aesthetics expert, fully genned up on new procedures and products.
I was recommended Dr. Charlotte de Souza of White Swan Aesthetics (who hold clinics in various locations), one of which is Harley Street, London, where I chose to go, and home of the top surgeons and specialists covering all fields.
Dr. Charlotte has an impressive portfolio of accolades, achievements and qualifications and has the ability to put you at ease from the moment the consultation begins, she’s an understanding and attentive practitioner with a strong sense of ethics. Together with her strong ethics and extensive facial anatomical knowledge, I felt in extremely capable hands.
My issue is thin lips, deepish nasal lines, crows feet and slightly dropped brows, sounds terrible doesn’t it, maybe I’m just being over critical, but then that’s why I’ve decided to try to have some of these niggles corrected. Dr. Charlotte recommended that my treatment plan should take place over two sessions. The first session was to administer ‘Baby Botox’ to my forehead to slightly lift the brows and soften the lines there and to soften the shallow crows feet around my eyes. The Botox results take a few days to kick in, and within a week my brows have a perfectly and gently arched and the crows feet no longer exist, yet there is still movement. This was not at all uncomfortable.
Next after a little numbing cream was added to my lips Dr. Charlotte began work to create a more youthful appearance She used 1ml of filler to kick out the vermilion border a bit and put some in the body of my lips to added fullness. The result was immediate, the cupids bow was a bit more pronounced and the lips were more smooth with a healthy subtle plumpness. This process was a tiny bit more uncomfortable, but bearable, the cupids bow area was more sensitive. The whole treatment only took around 15 minutes.
Over all I’d say the results I’ve gained from Dr. Charlotte are simply amazing, she’s a real professional, with a strong understanding of my expectations and able to interpret those expectations into successful results.
The second session with is for fillers to my cheek area to lift that area and soften my nasal lines, I can’t wait!
Swan Aesthetics offer a wide range of treatments and one relatively unknown procedure is Profhilo, similar to fillers, but with a few subtle differences. Here is some information to help you decide whether traditional fillers or Profhilo is the way to go.
Overview – Profhilo vs Dermal Filler
Profhilo is a fantastic skin remodeller for the 35+ market as it replaces the hyaluronic that is lost as you age. It is injected into 5 very precise points on each side of the face (the sites of maximum cell regeneration) at exactly the correct layer of the skin. It is particularly good at improving the texture of skin on the face and neck, giving an overall lift and refreshed appearance. However, its results are a lot less targeted than other non-surgical injectable treatments (botox/dermal fillers etc) and therefore it requires very careful client selection. It is an ideal treatment for clients wanting a completely natural lift – Profhilo, unlike dermal fillers, has no structure and so can never look “over done”.
Dermal fillers do replace volume and plump the tissues. Aside from anatomical knowledge and considerations, one of the most important aspects to dermal filler treatment is the artistic element that comes with selecting the correct product according to the clients skin type, area of the face and the treatment aim. The more cross-linked the product, the thicker it is and therefore the longer it will last. However, this has to be balanced up against the fact that the thicker dermal fillers will not integrate into the facial tissues as easily. There are many gold standard dermal filler brands – Juvederm, Restylane, Teoxane, Aliaxin etc but all of them offer slightly different properties and variations – for example the Teoxane redensity range have enhanced additives aimed at revitalising the skin and Juvederm’s Voluma great at replacing bony volume that has been lost with age. In order to deliver the best treatment, doctors should have the knowledge about all of these product ranges at their fingertips. At White Swan, we place huge emphasis on the importance of careful product selection, safe and accurate injecting and, of course ,an artistic eye. That is why our tag line is “Masters of Facial Artistry”
