‘Oh Henrietta”

March 22, 2018

As we strolled down the tourist filled streets of Covent Garden, we were looking for a sign, any sign that would point us in the direction of the restaurant. There is was, to our left, the beautifully lit up gold italic word ‘Henrietta’.

Stepping into the restaurant was like jumping into the roaring 20’s, seats were a minimalistic mint velvet and the decor was botanical, light and simple.

We were instantly shown to our seats and our coats were taken to the cloakroom by a sharply dressed receptionist.

Our seats meant we could see the kitchen and an array of wines, when the menu came we had a huge selection to suit every global need imaginable.

Onto the food!

First course was a miso vegetable broth surrounded by edible flowers. It was absolutely delicious and i couldn’t wait for the second course… Buttermilk dumplings. The menu was very unique, but there’s enough to satisfy most tastes including steak, chips and a garlic mayonnaise sauce.

Although we were full the waiter insisted we try their special dessert ‘freshly baked madeleines’ with Chantilly cream. It’s safe to say they were almost too pretty to eat. As the waiter brought them over the table behind us turned around. Felt like we were in a bakery… but in the best way possible.

If you’re looking for an experience somewhere beautifully decorated, elegant and simplistic, I’d advise you to head over to Henrietta – a true hidden gem.
