10 Degrees London – expertly crafted cocktails from an unparalleled vantage point
With arguably the best views out of anywhere in the whole of London, situated inside the Hilton Hotel on London’s exclusive Park Lane at Galvin’s Windows Restaurant and Bar is the newly relaunched 10 Degrees bar.
I recently visited at around 5.30 pm in the afternoon, as the sun was setting, and the sky was dipped in golden light-the view was truly breathtaking. I was greeted warmly by the bar manager and led to one of the banquettes and instantly brought their signature cocktail “Golden Hour” (how befitting) which is a mouth-watering, heady mix of Tanqueray gin, Italicus, citrus, orange bitters, Angostura bitters and Champagne which was served by one of the glamorous waitresses dressed in a figure-hugging (possibly Herve Leger) Azure coloured dress.
The decor was luxurious but modern in rich mustard and azure hues, eclectic prints and beautiful ceiling lights. The bar itself was made from sumptuous chocolate and ivory coloured marble with gold panels above making a stunning statement. The seating of intimate banquettes made from soft leather and accent armchairs in vibrant tropical floral prints were very inviting, adorned with velvet cushions and extremely comfortable to sit on.
There was a buzzy atmosphere in the bar made up of lovestruck couples staring blissfully at the view, businessmen and hotel guests; a small private party also added to the buzz in an enclosed area at the back of the bar. It really felt like a special place to be that evening with the magnificent views and vibrant but relaxing vibe. When my guest arrived we took a look at the bar menu and ordered the avocado and mango taco, tomato, onion, mustard cream and lime, mini short rib burger, smoked Cheddar, fresh kimchi and teriyaki mayo, J.F.C. ”Joo’s Fried Chicken” and Ham, smoked Cheddar toasty which all tasted delicious and was so filling.
The evening was spent people watching, admiring the panoramic view and enjoying the tasty food and cocktails. If you’re looking for somewhere quite special for pre-dinner drinks and nibbles 10 Degrees if definitely the place to head to and I’m sure whoever you choose to take will be suitably impressed.
