Montblanc transformed the Torrigiani gardens in the heart of Florence into an elegant safari adventure for the launch of 1926 Montblanc Heritage, a collection of vegetable-tanned leather pieces that express the vintage elegance of safari travel with their aging patina.

Because these lifetime companions are crafted for stylish wanderers always in search of unexpected discoveries and unique experiences, guests were invited to experience the craftsmanship and sophistication of 1926 Montblanc Heritage in an environment that evoked the exploration of distant lands and cultures, and captured the classic sophistication of adventure travel.

For one night only, the Torrigiani gardens, the largest privately owned garden in Europe situated within city boundaries, were opened up especially for the introduction of the new collection. Known for its extraordinary wealth of tree and plant species from all parts of the globe, the historic garden was the ideal backdrop for the launch of a collection inspired by the wonder and experience of world travel.

Montblanc ambassador Hugh Jackman was joined by guests model Lottie Moss, influencers and models Marlon Teixeira and Ben Dahlhaus, actress Alice Taglioni and actor Luca Argentero for an immersive Heritage experience, wandering around a magical and luxurious environment reminiscent of a camp set up in the savannah.

During the cocktail hour, guests were given the opportunity to find out more about the special process involved in the creation of Heritage, through the eyes of three Montblanc artisans.

A painter, a master of vegetable leather tanning and a craftsman demonstrated the traditional know-how and creativity involved in the creation of each piece.

Guests discovered  the handcrafted pieces and accessories of 1926 Montblanc Heritage displayed inside a custom tent made of canvas and the vegetable tanned leather featured in the collection, among objects, discoveries and souvenirs from exotic trips.

After touring the exhibition, the final chapter of the evening unfolded with a magnificent safari-style dinner for guests surrounded by the lush beauty of the Torrigiani gardens.

Hugh Jackman, himself an intrepid traveller and global nomad, said of the experience “ It is an incredible feeling to be right at the heart of a city that is home to centuries of leather craftsmanship while at the same time, be transported to a far and distant place inside these exotic gardens.

It perfectly captures what this collection is really about not just travel from one destination to another but collecting extraordinary experiences along the way and getting lost in the most unexpected places. And you want every experience to be expressed through the worn-in charm of the special leather bag you carry with you. ”

Available from September 2017, the new 1926 Montblanc Heritage collection of leather pieces was created with inspired travellers in mind, those who seeks stylish yet durable everyday companions.

For the first time, Montblanc has crafted a whole collection in vegetable tanned leather treated in the great Tuscan tradition, to give each piece its rich dark brown patina.

Named in honour of the year Montblanc started its own journey into the world of leather craftsmanship, the vintage attitude of Heritage is reflected in every design detail of the collection from the worn-in leather to the bright red printed lining inspired by the regal Maasai, from the antique gold colour finishing of the metal fittings to the bridge and clasp closing systems.
