A Sunday Roast with a Kick

November 9, 2017

No need to Jerk around looking for the best Sunday roast in Dalston. Look no further than Rudie’s. The Jamaican eatery with its rustic interior boasts an extensive food and drinks menu, inspired by popular street foods, island ingredients and flavours.

Located just a short walk from Dalston Kingsland station, Rudie’s has all the characteristics you’d expect from an eatery joint located in Hackney.

Walking into the restaurant, you are greeted with a laidback atmosphere, friendly faces, and sounds of the islands playing. Exactly the vibe you’d hope for from a spot that promises to deliver authentic Jamaican flavours.

The menu is mouthwatering with traditional Jamaican dishes like Ackee & Saltfish and jerk chicken, as well as more Westernised dishes like mac ‘n’ cheese and calamari with an island twist.

Rudie’s is also vegetarian and vegan friendly with plenty of veggie based dishes to choose from.

Their newly launched Sunday Roast is an absolute winner. Available from 1-6pm on Sunday, the roast includes 3 different options, so there is something for everyone, including our veggie friends.

I had the opportunity to try the whole chicken roast and it’s divine. Served on a platter for two with all the fixings, the portion sizes are anything, but small.

The chicken was roasted to perfection with plenty of jerk seasoning and the accompaniments, including a delicious rum gravy were just as nice.

If you’re in the mood for something a bit more lively,
Rudie’s also does a bottomless brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 12pm-4pm. For £18 you get 1 brunch dish and 90 minutes of bottomless rum punch. I’ve tried the rum punch and let me just say, it’s very drinkable.

Curious? Good. Take a peak on the Rudie’s website for more information and don’t forget to book yourself a table. You won’t be disappointed.
