Atrio Restaurant and Wine Attic, Conrad Miami
June 23, 2017
It’s rare to find a five star hotel which also has a five star restaurant, but that’s exactly what you’ll find at Atrio Restaurant and Wine Attic within the Conrad Miami Hotel.
With an emphasis on Miami’s delicious local produce with influences from around the world including Italian and Peruvian/Cuban to name but a few, Atrio’s offerings included a deliciously fresh and zesty Grouper Ceviche starter. At $16, this dish came with Aji Amarillo (yellow chilli – a Peruvian staple), Crispy Corn and Sour Orange, and on the side, the best sweet potato fries ever! (The recipe is a closely guarded secret – we did try to find out how they were made they were sooooo good!)
A close second for favourite starters of the evening came in the form of the Faro Risotto (£14) full of taste and texture with Sweet Corn and Chanterelle Mushrooms. The flavours worked perfectly together while the poached egg on the top oozed fresh yellow yolk and was an absolute delight to eat.
Mains were tricky to choose from. With the menu split into ocean, land and pastas and rices, I was blown away by the meat course choices – literally wanting to try everything on the list! With a selection of pork, beef, chicken and lamb, they all sounded too good to single out just one and my mouth watered as I finally decided on the Grilled Harissa Marinated Lamb Loin with Royal Trumpet Mushroom Jus, Polenta and Minted Sweet Chili Relish. From the description alone, you can gauge just how much flavour was in this dish. The meat was perfect and my knife cut through it like butter, while the mushroom jus was just right, not too overpowering. The relish, a perfect accompaniment to the lamb…
I was way too full to go in for dessert, but can vouch for their decadence with the few beautifully presented dishes which arrived to our table. I was much happier with my 2014 Monterey, La Crema Pinot Noir (I did say the wine choices are fabulous…!)
The wine attic in this elegant restaurant was a great place for us to enjoy plenty of this gorgeous wine and the accompanying dishes which impressed from beginning to end. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and the staff in particular were brilliant and oh so knowledgable about every single dish on the menu. If you’re in a big group, try for the wine attic which is the perfect place to enjoy a lavish, luxurious meal with an experienced, inventive chef at the helm. Although, wherever you’re sitting at Atrio, you’ll definitely agree that the experience is one to savour.
