Black Cow Launches Limited Edition Gold Straw Gift Pack
December 20, 2018
Black Cow, the world’s smoothest vodka, is excited to announce the launch of a limited edition gold straw gift pack for Christmas 2018. The gift pack is available from Harvey Nichols and Amazon, with an RRP from £31.50. The gift pack features a 70cl bottle of Black Cow and a reusable 24 carat gold plated straw.
Whey has always been the waste dilemma within the dairy industry with excess volumes produced in the cheese making process. Black Cow takes this undervalued by-product and transforms it into a truly superior crystal clear vodka.
Black Cow is concerned about the world’s waste crisis, as the UK discards a staggering 8.5 billion plastic straws a year – that’s an average of approximately 130 straws per person per year. A plastic straw, which was manufactured from petroleum, shipped around the world, placed in your drink and then used for 10 minutes, will now exist for at least 100 years.
This doesn’t seem right
Black Cow is offering an alternative to the plastic straw, by including a 24 carat gold plated stainless steel straw in the gift pack.
Black Cow Founder, Paul Archard says, “Since Black Cow’s inception we have consciously tried to create a sustainable, green working culture. Sustainability is always a major factor in design decisions. We use reusable or biodegradable consumables where we can such as straws, vessels, napkins etc. We have photovoltaic cells on our barn roofs at our distillery home in Childhay which feed our electricity use and we are always looking to improve our carbon footprint being economical with resources.”
What is black cow?
Made in West Dorset on England’s south coast, Black Cow is the world’s smoothest vodka, made from the milk of grass grazed cows and nothing else. Black Cow is an award-winning, super premium, crystal clear vodka with a unique smooth and creamy character.
Where did the idea come from?
Our founders Jason and Archie were sitting at Jason’s kitchen table discussing local alcohol production over a glass of eau de vie when Jason’s Polish friend Jozef (who knows about this sort of thing) popped in and was given a sample. He sipped and wrinkled his nose “you know you can make good drink from milk” he said – at which point they looked out of the window to see Jason’s 250-strong dairy herd staring back at them. Archie then witnessed a light bulb switching on over Jason’s head!
There the seeds of Black Cow were sown, but how is it made?
Most vodka is made from grain or potato whereas Black Cow is uniquely made entirely from milk. The milk is separated into curds and whey. The whey, which contains the sugar needed to produce alcohol, is fermented, using a special yeast, into a milk beer. The milk beer is then distilled and treated to Black Cow’s secret blending process. The vodka is triple filtered and finished before being hand bottled. The vodka has no additives or flavourings, is gluten free and is suitable for those with lactose intolerance, as all the milk sugar (lactose) has been converted into alcohol.
