Carrossa Luxury spa and villas in Mallorca
The newest 5-star hotel in Northeast Mallorca is a very peaceful and private estate which makes the perfect get-away from a busy lifestyle.
We arrived at the resort and were immediately stunned by the natural landscape of 800 acres with panoramic views of mountains and the sea. We came to rest and escape from our daily routine to recharge and were well looked after by the resort staff.
Carrossa nestles near the mountains away from tourist attractions and it is only a few kilometres away from the romantic town of Arta. Do make sure you stop for a coffee and a slice of cake in one of the beautifully decorated cafes. There are some nearby beaches such as Cala Torta and Cala Mesquida and you can visit the harbour village of Colonia De Sant Pere which is just a 15-minute drive away.
Mallorca is a perfect paradise for golfers and features four 18-hole courses a few miles away including Alcanada, Capdepera, Canyamel, and Son Servera. We were looking forward to our four-day break, staying at this beautiful resort. A buggy drove us to the doorstep of our Junior Suite through amazing alleyways amongst the rooms. Architecturally this resort instantly blew us away.
The Junior Suite in the newly constructed complex, offers plenty of room to relax, with a private terrace from where we could watch the sunset. The bathroom, with a walk-in shower, was well-designed and of course included all the necessary goodies and more. We had twin beds with a pillow menu so we could choose our pillow preferences. This was new to us and we loved the emphasis on our slumber. We couldn’t wait to experience a good night’s sleep in these incredibly comfortable beds although we were eager to explore the hotel to see what else there was to enjoy.
The resort offers a gourmet half board with a buffet breakfast and multi-course dinner menu at the fine dining restaurant Carrossa serving refined Mediterranean cuisine. Carrossa, under the direction of the talented chef Ramón García offers fresh seasonal local fare which we particularly enjoyed. Meanwhile, the more casual restaurant Bistro Bardia, offers à la carte dining from 1 pm until 10 pm. Expect paella, tapas, barbecues, fish of the day and ceviches. We would highly recommend Bistro Bardia as it has a wonderful outdoor terrace with a fabulous pool and stunning natural views. It was an excellent way to wind down and enjoy some tremendous cuisine.
When we returned to our room following our lovely day around the pool we found a welcoming basket of seasonal fruits and a perfectly chilled bottle of Champagne which we devoured while relaxing in our ‘Carrossa’ style dressing gowns, sitting on our private terrace watching the sunset before dinner. In spite of mild fatigue, our dinner was the most wonderful event as we loved the peace and tranquillity of the restaurant and the food was superb.
The next morning, we had planned a trip on the Carrossa-owned luxury yacht; a maximum number of six can be entertained on board but remember to pre-book your lunch to take with you. We departed at 9.30 am with a few other people who were also going to enjoy a beautiful day out to sea.
The most friendly and welcoming captain looked after us and we felt so involved in the trip. We really appreciated his service which was outstanding and he was great fun to be around. On our first stop, and after convincing the captain, we were able to jump in and swim in the crystal blue water. I would definitely recommend having a swim because it was beautiful and made us feel so calm. The sea was azure blue, clear and inviting.
As we got back on the boat and before we moved off to another gorgeous spot, our lunch was served. Of course, there was some Champagne to kick off and as the sun glazing over us, we could think of no finer way to de-stress. It was a great break away from technology and social media I must admit! The yacht was stunning and when complemented by the ocean, crystal blue waters and amazing hospitality the experience was unforgettable.
Back to the resort following our day at sea, we ventured into the spa. The spa offers an array of features including a heated swimming pool, sauna, steam room and gym; we couldn’t wait to try these fantastic amenities. The wellness centre, spa, treadmills and gym are important to me as I like to have my work-out routine, and with the gym being surprisingly busy I was not the only person training which was an enjoyable setting to be in. When I arrived at the gym I was surprised to see the beautiful space. I also had the pleasure of admiring the natural landscape motivating me to work even harder on the treadmill.
Make sure that you book your spa treatments in advance, as there are so many to choose from. I would highly recommend going for a full body massage as all my tight muscles were released and every knot was untangled allowing me to drift off as my body tension became at ease. This was the perfect space to recharge.
If you are looking for somewhere to chill, to switch off, to have spa treatments, eat high quality food and beautifully cooked Mediterranean cuisine in a rural location, or to watch the sun bounce off the mountains, then this is the place for you! We felt refreshed as we sadly packed ready to head home.
Make sure you say hello to the lovely manager as he will guide you around the resort and give you the history of it, which is fascinating. Carrossa is a perfect resort for those looking to relax, but equally, it’s great for golfers, cyclists, runners or explorers.
Carrossa also offers different packages, to suit all. They recommend October as being the perfect month to visit when the weather is clement, and you can still enjoy something of everything.
