The Chedi Andermatt, Alpine, Asian and Authentic Luxury in Switzerland
August 30, 2017
The Chedi Andermatt is situated in a small picturesque town in Andermatt, a stunning ski resort in the winter and a challenging golf resort in the summer. It’s other claim to fame is one of the action packed James Bond films was made here, the most iconic Gold Finger!
The Chedi Andermatt has been tastfully designed to compliment the surrounding buildings and to blend in with the breathtaking views of the Swiss Alps. It is approximately 90 minute drive from Zurich Airport going South and about the same to Milan. Once out of Zurich the drive is spectacularly scenic, a true delight.
The Chedi Andermatt, what can I say once through the main door we were greeted by smiling courteous, and helpful staff, who all spoke a multitude of languages between them, we began to feel the five star treatment from the first ‘welcome’.
We had the pleasure to meet Sven Flory director of Sales and Marketing, who has operated at The Chedi Andermatt from the opening, may we say he is a great Ambassador and credit to the hotel group. We would also like to give credit to the interior designers for the beautiful Asian Art and soft furnishings displayed throughout the hotel, the fusion of Alpine and Asian influences creates an opulent and exceedingly chic atmosphere. The ambience here was one of calm as we walked through the magnificent hotel, taking in all the wonderful facilities.
We enjoyed dining in the Japanese restaurant with a full à la Carte menu, specialising in Swiss and Asian food, the perfect mix, offering superb choices and if you enjoy wine you will think you are in heaven, there is an impressive wine list, beautifully presented in floor to ceiling glass display units, what a joy! This restaurant offered the perfect setting for a romantic and sumptuous evening of fine dining with superb service.
We must not forget the equally spectacular Cheese Tower located in the à la Carte restaurant, approximately three meters in circumference and six meters high and filled with the finest cheeses from Europe, so be sure to save a little gap at the end of your dining experience to indulge in the magnificence of the Cheese Tower.
Breakfast is served in the à la Carte restaurant, buffet style, possibly the most magnificent we have tasted, everything from ten different freshly baked breads, honey on the comb to a complete list of freshly prepared hot dishes, fully international and a real six star experience and an ideal spot to enjoy that extra coffee that you never have time for at home.
The Chedi Andermatt is a memorable experience and the staff work hard to ensure your stay is joyful, memorable and fulfilling. The Hotel and its staff deserve all the great ratings it receives, if we could recommend six star status, we would and that’s rare.
With its latest addition of a 18 hole Championship Golf Course, which I had the pleasure to be golf buggied around with Patrick Widmer Director of Golf, who spoke with great passion and enthusiasm for this golf course. The golf course is beautiful and a great test for all handicaps, the video online does not do the course justice. We had lunch at the club house restaurant and the food was to the Chedi Andermatts high standards, with stunning views and a fab menu.
We were lucky enough to stay in one of the many Deluxe suites, it was incredible, everything controlled from the iPad the hotel provides, amazing bathroom stocked with a plentiful supply of aromatic goodies, a sumptuous bed, fit for a King and tasteful chic and thoughtfully designed furnishings throughout. A truly memorable experience, another six stars from us. ‘Sumptuous’ being the operative word here.
Whilst I enjoyed the well equipped gym and indoor and outdoor pool my partner enjoyed an Alpine Full body massage with Veronica, the massage was very relaxing and Veronica was extremely professional . We both enjoyed the Spa experience immensely. The spa was designed to the highest specification, offering a wide range of luxurious treatments, in a quiet and calm environment, the perfect way to unwind following a day of hiking, golfing or skiing.
We highly recommend this stunning hotel, it is truly almost spectacularly perfect hotel, 11/10 from us!
We would like to thank Sven Flory and his team for giving us a memorable experience at The Chedi Andermatt.
