Churchill’s ‘Casa de Cuba’ is now open
Bringing tropical vibes to the heart of London’s West End with a brand new Cuban inspired summer cocktail menu
London, June 2019 – Now open, Churchill’s Casa de Cuba is the new seasonal theme for spring and summer at The Churchill Bar & Terrace, introducing a fresh, vibrant and creative cocktail menu, bringing tropical flavours and playful twists on long standing Cuban classics.
The new menu, which launched this month, includes five signature Cuban cocktails, followed by Cuban classics with a twist, using premium spirits throughout. Expect a heady mix of Cuban flavours and ingredients in every sip.
Highlights of the seasonal signature cocktails include:
‘Baptism of Fire’, a rum based cocktail using Zacapa 23-year-old rum combined with a banana & chilli shrub, guava and lime juice, port, cedar essence and angostura bitters. This fruity long drink, served with a dried lime and banana leaf pays homage to Churchill’s first experience with the Cuban military.
‘Guantanamera’, inspired by the famous Cuban song features avocado infused Tanqueray No.Ten, resulting in a smooth and creamy taste. Cocchi Americano, cucumber sherbet, banana syrup, a squeeze of lime and a black cardamom tincture, all made in house.
‘Miel de Mango’ takes inspiration from the historical association of the mango with the folklore of Cuba. This visually exciting cocktail combines Talisker 10 with bee pollen, Tio Pepe, pineapple juice, Noilly Prat, Lime Juice and Earl Grey tea, served with a caramelised mango meringue foam.‘
‘Las Terrazas’ is dedicated to the Cuban eco-village ‘Las Terrazas’ which was built by industrious workers and is still there fifty years later. This eye-popping cocktail uses a red cabbage wine sherbet which gives it a unique and earthy flavour.
Other cocktails include ‘Danzon’ and the ‘Double Bubble Shadow’.
Cuban classics on the menu include:
‘Evolution of the Daiquiri’, a creative trio which takes guests through a journey of the biggest cocktails to emerge from Cuba, the Daiquiri. Canchanchara, the base for what is today known as the Daiquiri, the original Daiquiri and the Hemingway. Each mixed with lip smacking Supasawa, a mixer which mimics the acidity found in citrus fruits.
‘Coco Fuego’ is the perfect take on a Cuban classic, Saoco. It combines Havana 7, pineapple juice, coconut water, coco real cream and chilli. A highly refreshing mix.
‘Mojito de Sandia’ the ultimate take on the classic Cuban mojito, using freshly squeezed watermelon for a revitalising taste. This cocktail is served with a glittering rim of sugar and fresh mint. The perfect summer tipple.
‘The President’ uses a limited-edition Havana Tributo 2018 rum, combined with grilled pineapple infused Chivas Royal Salute, Martini Rosso, Rooibos & Cinnamon Tea and oregano and kaffir tincture.
Others include ‘Little Mary’.
Head Bartender Daniele Bresciani commented: “Each cocktail on the menu celebrates the vibrancy and colour of Cuba, telling its own story. We can’t wait for our customers to be transported there through this fun and exciting menu.”
