El Gouna Film Festival 4th Edition

Very exciting news was just announced about the dates of the 4th edition of El Gouna Film Festival (GFF) which is expected to run from Oct.23 to Oct.31, 2020 with the willingness to support the film industry during this challenging time while keeping the health and safety of their audience as their priority. What is highlighting this edition and making it extra special is that it will be held at El Gouna Conference and Culture Centre (GCCC), so it will be the first public event to take place at the new venue? Up until this moment, more than 800 projects and films in post-production have been submitted to the GFF.

Established in 2017 by Naguib Sawiris, the GFFis held annually in the Red Sea breath-taking resort town, El Gouna. From the successful film workshops to the most famous celebrities from all around the globe with their charming looks, the festival stepped strongly in the film festival industry since its first edition; which made its second and third editions even more victorious than anyone could have ever imagined. Showcasing a diversity of films, the festival promotes cultural interaction while providing opportunities for development to new voices in the cinema industry, particularly in the Arab world. GFF has been a host for many international films and filmmakers, also it has organized CineGouna platform which is an innovative business hub invented to support Egyptian and Arab talents.

Highlights from previous editions

Who can forget that moment of pride when the Rambo’s star, Sylvester Stallone received El Gouna’s Career Achievement Award, and when the superstar Owen Wilson held his masterclass in the second edition of the festival?

Another unforgettable memory from the 3rd edition was the 5-year memorandum of understanding signed by the UNICEF and the GFF in a prestigious reception to advocate the rights of disadvantaged children across Egypt and the region. This was in the belief of the power and impact the cinema can have to induce positive change to the lives of millions of children.

We can’t be more excited for the 4th edition and to know its program which will be announced by the end of September 2020.
