HAKKASAN Modern Cantonese cuisine and world-class mixology

Walking in to Hakkasan is like no other experience in London if you are looking for an evening where you can enjoy authentic Chinese dishes, with a modern twist. Hakkasan Hanway Place is a quiet street in busy Fritzovia London, walking down the winding stairs you instantly begin to forget you are in London as your senses are welcomed by the smell of fragrant incense and the sight of romantic candle light.

Once you arrive at reception you really do begin to feel you are a million miles away, with the glamorous interior in a very modern setting complementing the fine dine menu. The staff instantly acknowledge you with a smile, as you arrive and accompany you to your table.

We began the evening with some rather exotic cocktails, the selection was amazing. The menu features all of the tried and tested cocktails and includes some new and interesting mixes, you will be spoilt for choice. We actually asked for a drink not even on the menu and our waiter had no problem getting the mixologist to create that for us.

For our starters we chose the Hakkasan world famous crispy duck salad to share, what can I say apart from it truly lives up to the title of ‘world famous’. The crispy duck salad with Pomelo, pine nut and shallot was brought to the table, was mixed and served by the waiter, again providing that touch of first class service.

Before our second course came we were greeted by the inhouse Sommelier, who guided us through a selection of red and white wines to accompany our dishes, we decided to go with a bottle of white wine, Avesso, Vinho Verde which perfectly complimented our chosen dishes.

The selection of Dim Sum we were served for our second course included Har Gau (Steamed shrimp dumpling), Chinese chive jade dumpling, truffle chicken shui mai with tobiko, white peppercorn seafood dumpling, black truffle pumpkin puff, fried vermicelli chicken, morel mushroom puff with mooli and spring onion and a baked lamb puff with almond. All delicately crafted with eye catching detail and exotic ingredients, be prepared to be blown away.

Finally the main course, I decided to go for the Spicy Prawn with lilly bulb and almond and my partner had the stir fry pepper rib eye beef with merlot, accompanied with bowls of fragrant rice. Both dishes arrived at our table picture perfect, again the combination and introduction of delicate ingredients to these dishes adds amazing texture and flavour, that will leave you speechless and wanting more.

As our evening came to an end we decided to finish our unforgettable experience with dessert, we chose the chocolate clay pot with dark chocolate cream, cocoa nibs and mandarin ice, this was served with all the glitz and glamour only Hakkasan can pull off. Once the dessert was on the table the waiter poured the hot dark chocolate cream over the chocolate clay pot, melting the chocolate away, leaving us in awe and in chocolate Heaven. The mandarin ice really goes well with this dish, helping to cleanse your palate with every bite. Trust me this dessert is not to be missed!

We had such an amazing experience at Hakkasan Hanway Place and we recommend to any food lovers to go and experience this great restaurant for yourselves. The restaurant is a super place for a memorable night out or for those special occasions, your guests will definitely be impressed by the venue and most importantly the food, no wonder Hakkasan is the only Chinese restaurant to be awarded a Michelin star.
