Leicester Square Kitchen – Afternoon Tea in the heart of our City
November 19, 2018
Who doesn’t love Afternoon Tea? It’s the quintessential way to indulge in a few quaint little crustless sandwiches, exquisite pastries, scones and cakes, coupled with a delicate bone china cup and saucer with your favourite tea, and even more of a treat when a cool glass of champagne is included. Leicester Square Kitchen has a full menu, but it was 3pm and following some Christmas shopping, this was exactly what was needed. We sat at a lovely table by the window, watching the world go by.
First we were presented with the bubbly, then our pots of tea arrived, my favourite is the aromatic and light Earl Grey. Our tiered platter arrived laden with a superb mixture of gorgeous tasty sandwiches. We had honey-roast ham with wholegrain mustard mayonnaise on brioche bread, Scottish smoked salmon with lemon butter on dill bread, rare roast beef with horseradish mayonnaise on black pepper bread, cucumber with mint cream cheese on tomato bread, Cheese and red onion on caraway seed bread, soft tasty bread with exciting fillings, perfect. Now on to the sweet stuff – Plain scones, chocolate scones, strawberry preserve and Cornish clotted cream, flourless chocolate and orange cake, fresh fruit tartlet and my personal favourite sugar-coated doughnuts with the most delightful Peruvian chocolate sauce.
We enjoyed the hospitality of Leicester Square Kitchen, it has a relaxed ambience, calm and relaxed away from the crazy London streets, but we felt rested and satisfied enough to venture back out and have a little peruse around Leicester Square Christmas market, lots of lovely stalls, well worth a stroll around.
Leicester Square Kitchen, as seen on BBC One’s Celebrity MasterChef, embraces the art of shared dining in the heart of London’s most iconic square, offering relaxed luxury in a sophisticated yet unassuming setting.
The rest of the menu showcases an exquisite selection of contemporary Mexican and Peruvian small plates, complemented with the finest wines and signature cocktails, Leicester Square Kitchen also offers an exceptional breakfast, lunch and a pre-theatre menu.
On selected Saturdays, you can join them for their popular Margarita Masterclass, where you can learn directly from the professionals in crafting delicious Margaritas, while enjoying a selection of canapés.
They also offer one of the city’s best brunches, Our Frida Weekend Brunch, inspired by the legendary Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. Expect to escape to a corner of South America whilst enjoying colourful dishes, signature cocktails, Frida-themed themed décor, musical entertainment and more.
Perhaps their most valuable offer comes every Tuesday with their Taco & Margarita Experience, which allows all to delight in their entire range of soft and hard tacos, alongside two Margarita cocktails of your choice.
