Leaving a grey and drizzly day behind us in the UK was easy, we boarded our flight eagerly and three hours and ten minutes later we arrived in Zakynthos and blue skies were awaiting us, we could feel our shoulders physically drop, the busy slightly chaotic life was already forgotten. The Greek way definitely ensures that life becomes a little more relaxed, they have a certain demeanour that brings about a more cool and calm disposition.

A short scenic 30-minute taxi ride and we were at the Lesante Blu resort, welcomed, checked in, luggage deposited and a quick tour of our ground floor suite with its very own pool meant we had enough time to grab some positive rays and a pre-dinner cocktail, the perfect way to begin out much-needed break in Lesante Blu.

Our suite was bright, white and airy, with a fabulous view of the Ionian Sea, it was quiet and calming especially as the huge super-kingsize bed faced that view, wonderful for an early morning coffee, before our delicious buffet-style breakfast. The suite also included not only a powerful waterfall shower but a huge round jacuzzi bath, we took advantage of this one evening with a glass of bubbly, but don’t be in a hurry, it took a good 30 minutes to fill up, but well worth it as it also faced that stunning ocean view.

Our outside space was perfect, we spent a couple of days just enjoying the privacy, it also enabled us to go to and from our laptops as there really was ‘no rest for the wicked’ as they say! The sun loungers and beach towels were plentiful as were the bottled drinking water and tea and coffee supplies.

Lesante Blu is part of The Leading Hotels of The World group and is situated directly on the beachfront, its main feature is the stunning infinity pool, overlooking the azure blue of the Ionian sea.  This fine hotel also boasts a small but completely divine spa, with an indoor pool, Hamman, hairdressing and beauty treatments. If you prefer fine dining with table service the other choice by the poolside overlooking the ocean is Melia Fine Dining restaurant, it was awarded  ‘Best Fine Dining Cuisine in Southern Europe 2019’.  Executive Chef Nikos Ispiroudis and Chef Dionisis Zavvas will take you through a memorable gastronomic journey accompanied perfectly with the wine list, selected and served by the Head Sommelier. With the stunning sunsets, it is the most romantic setting and with the fabulous cuisine and silver service, it really is a culinary experience second to none.

Champagne and cocktails are always a staple end of the day or pre-dinner treat and the Panorama Champagne bar or Ostria all-day bar are both perfectly situated to cater to your beverage needs, champagne, a Bellini, Margarita, beer or a chilled glass of rosé are perfectly presented poolside or in fact, anywhere you desire.
