LIV your neighbourhood eatery
LIV is an all-day neighbourhood restaurant and foodie hub for residents of Belgravia, Chelsea and over the bridge in Battersea. LIV presents a fresh and relaxed environment in the bustling city. LIV welcomes locals and explorers every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Chef Damien Money paired up with his team, using his successful experience and passion to run and construct the LIV concept of generous style cooking with local ingredients inspired by a healthy belief.
I was privileged to be invited to LIV’s opening launch and taste a 3-course culinary experience of their delicious evening menu.
To kick start the evening we were recommended the Tuna Tartare with ponzu sesame dressing and the mouth-watering mini Crab Brioche Rolls with cafe de Paris butter. Each plate is seasonally relevant and showcases the much-loved classics alongside LIV twists. To pair the meal we were served a persistent and elegant wine, Patagonia Malbec – Familia Schroeder. The wine presented a very intense red denoting maturity, combining ripe red fruit aromas and notes of spice.
For the wintery months ahead, LIV has re-created the classical Duck Ragu into a slow-cooked Duck Paccheri. A delicious meal that transports their guests into a cosy living room with a home-cooked meal. The Steak & Chips features a lovely cut of 250gm steak fillet with cafe de Paris butter and shoestring fries. The ultimate comfort dish for all. Along with the mains, you can feaster on the sides, with my favourite being the colourful Ratatouille. Other greens include Sautéed Spinach with lemon and another beloved choice the Boulangere Potatoes with onions and herbs.
I had the pleasure of talking to the chef about the menu and the concept of the restaurant. He informed me that the site itself has a long history as a restaurant since 1968 and one of LIV goals is to bring the corner of Holbein Place back to life. Having engaged with local customers the menu is manifested with local passion and ingredients. LIV has reinvented old school classics in a warm and friendly neighbourhood restaurant that exceeds expectations with delicious comfort food, wonderful wines and warm friendly service.
To end this lovely night on a sweet note we were served the time-honoured Apple Crumble with vanilla ice cream and the traditional British dessert the Treacle Tart with clotted cream and ice cream complemented by LIV’s bespoke coffee blend roasted in Naples.
LIV’s downstairs walk-in coffee bar welcomes all comers to try a range of expertly pulled espressos and nutritious juices. Guest can choose from a global wine list hand-picked to bring out the flavours in every dish, along with an inspiring range of non-alcoholic drinks.
LIV has created a true neighbourhood gem providing a relaxed environment dominate the area’s casual dining scene. The casual and well-designed interior feels cosy and helps to transport the guests in the calm hues of yellow and taste.
