Luce Launches Tuscan-Inspired New Winter Menu
July 16, 2019
Three of our stunning ambassadors had the privilege of tasting the new winter menu at Luce Restaurant. Their experience was one of heart-warming delicious food, great views and amazing people. Here is their experience:
I had a lovely luncheon with mouth-watering dishes that were served by Chef Grant Van der Riet. I enjoyed the delectable starter – Seafood soup & baked eggplant layered in a tomato; basil sauce. And enjoyed the Salmon scottato (For someone who does not eat seafood I enjoyed it) served with the amazing smoked pork belly & crumbled potato. I am a fan of mushrooms, therefore the Ravioli alla Massaia (veal ravioli served in a creamy wild mushroom sauce) had me teary up. Wrapping the lunch with mouth-watering chocolate and apple pie dessert, with ice cream and sauces.
The overall experience was exquisite, the Chef made sure he personally educated us about how he prepared his dishes. And the fact that even though he is a qualified chef he still learns a thing or two, on those cooking shows and YouTube food channel videos. Knowing he makes bread and pasta from scratch is unbelievable. The Luce winter menu was truly warming, from the hosts, hotel manager to the Chef. I recommend if one wants to experience high-quality food to go to Luce at Southern Sun Hyde Park.
The food at Tsogo Sun the Luce restaurant was amazing, fabulous and well plated. Some of the meals had remarkable flavours and were pleasantly easy on the taste buds. I will highlight mostly on the Tomato Soup Starter, Pasta meals and Desert.
I loved the Cacciucco di Pescue alla Livornese Soup. Loved the seafood combination with the tomato soup and a touch of chilli. That meal alone I give a full rating and I do not see no fault in it as it was well prepared and well presented.
The Ravioli Pasta was a hit. I loved the Wild mushroom sauce and the combination of the pasta and mushrooms gel in together so well and cannot forget the presentation of the dish was indeed fabulous and super stylish. Talk about styling food, the Chef did an excellent job.
Lastly the desert. I really do not enjoy nuts and dark chocolate but after having that desert I must say, I do not mind dark chocolates and nuts in my desert. I also enjoyed the expresso infused Pana Cotta served with coffee gel. That desert was oozing with flavour, it’s by far my favourite dish. The meals were lovely and I enjoyed myself and the restaurant service was great.
A moment to thank Tsogo Sun Hyde Park for the fabulous launch the Luce Restaurant winter Menu 2019.
We were treated with a mouth-watering seafood and tomato soup, followed by seared salmon served with cauliflower purée, lobster tortellini and squid ink chardonnay butter sauce. This 8 course tasting pleasure also included tasty Italian meals such as Salmon Scattato and the ’Tortellindi Zucca e Ricotta con Tartufo Nero Fresco’, a pumpkin and ricotta tortellini on pumpkin puree, sage infused butter and fresh black truffle – an entire delicious fest!
The warm dishes prepared by the friendly and insightful Executive Chef Grant van der Riet and chef Hamilton are just the perfect treat for that winter girls dinner out and suited to make the best impressions for that special date. Let’s not forget the sweet treats, dessert! ‘Crostata di mele’ (warm apple pie, cooked with cinnamon and served with vanilla ice-cream), heaven on a plate.
Luce Restaurant has a superb view of the urban city, with a modern touch of class and an environment of highly professional staff, this is worth every ‘buck’ this winter. A complete pleasure to have been part of the #TsogoTasting experience.
