Madison London a rooftop terrace of enchantment
You are in for a real treat this winter… if a lively atmosphere, warming cocktail, tasty nibbles, little lodges and heated seats are your idea of festive heaven than head to the enchanted woods at Madison London.
As you step into the glass elevator up to the rooftop of one new change you are transported to a winter wonderland. Illuminated trees and fairy lights galore. The views across the city of London are simply breathtaking. I was invited to Madison London to try out the new winter cocktails and as its one of my personal favourite summer venues, I was very intrigued to see how it compared.
As soon as you step out onto the terrace you can hear the in house DJ’s playing upbeat soulful house through the speaker which I couldn’t help but want to dance to. If you wish to sit inside and see the spectacular view from the glass restaurant you can also catch the vibe watching the DJ’s on the decks doing their thing.
The staff are super friendly and we were greeted and seated within a few minutes. Where I browsed the bar snack menu which had a number of delicious options. The waiter brought over what he thought was the best three options from the menu. The buttermilk fried chicken, arancini with a garlic mayonnaise sauce and truffle chips. Unfortunately or fortunately for my waistline, I don’t eat potato and my guest doesn’t eat truffle so apart from that the picky bits were simple but delicious. I particularly liked the chicken and the garlic dip was a hit.
You can enjoy the bar snacks both inside and out or they have a more formal restaurant which I have previously eaten at multiple times and always enjoyed. The new cocktail menu features both hot and cold cocktails. The cocktails are priced at £12 each and include Belvedere Vodka or Hennessy. We were initially. offered two cocktails to choose from but after a polite request to try the different options the waiter came back very prompt waving the limit and encouraging us to order as we please.
We were very lucky enough to try all of the cocktails available. Edible flowers and popping candy made a pretty and playful accompaniment. My personal favourite was pop it which consisted of the popping candy pegged on the side of a tall shot glass with instructions to empty the candy onto your tongue before sipping on the exuberant sweet orange liquid. By the colour, I’m guessing it’s likely to be full of E numbers but very tasty none the less and totally moreish. I may have had two.
If a hot cocktail takes your fancy to warm you up on a winters evening the coffee drink was delicious: smooth and creamy. I would definitely recommend the guilty pleasure. Again totally indulgent but totally worth it.
We were seated right next to the champagne bar which has a side view to look into the kitchen and watch the food be prepared. We made some lovely friends during the afternoon who we recommended some of our favourite cocktails of choice to. The incredible views entice a wonderful mix of people to visit this bar in the heart of the city but the vibe makes people stay.
The atmosphere is sociable, fun and friendly. We snuggled up on the outside sofas, underneath the heaters with a cosy blanket looking at the view, sipping on cocktails swaying to the music and laughing all afternoon until the evening. I could have stayed there all night. The new festive menu sounds divine so I shall be returning soon to taste. This winter rooftop bar is definitely one to visit!
