MarBella Nido Suites Hotel & Villas – a Luxury Adults only resort in Corfu,

July 5, 2018

We landed in sunny Corfu and took a local taxi to the south of the island, passing through bustling towns and colourful quaint villages up in the mountains, admiring the lush greenery surrounding us. Driving further along the rolling roads we gradually climbed the hills and reached our final destination, the MarBella Nido.

The hotel sat perfectly in the mountains, as if it had been there for decades and trees had grown up around it embracing the hotel as part of the spectacular untouched landscape. Upon arrival we marvelled at the beauty of the MarBella Nido and immediately noticed the incredible architecture that contributed to the ‘wow factor’ of the hotel.

The concierge kindly took our bags and we were seated in the outside reception lounge where the manager welcomed us with cold towels and a selection of drinks, including a fruity mocktail made using their local berries. After check in we were escorted to our room and to our surprise this involved catching a ride on one of the hotels golf buggies; this we thought was an excellence service, one that we had not experienced anywhere else. From colourful houses formed from clusters of suites, to cobbled paths and abundant flower beds, the hotel has noticeably embraced aesthetic aspects that are traditional to Corfu.

Our suite was located at the very top of the hotel and we soon realised that the buggy drive was well worth the journey; we opened the door and the first thing that immediately caught our eye was the incredible view! The room décor was ultra-modern, featuring a fabulous bathroom with walk in rain shower, king size bed and a spectacular infinity pool that was connected to the room with floor to ceiling glass sliding doors, so every inch of the view could be seen from any point in the room.

After having a long day of travelling we didn’t feel up to getting dressed up for dinner so the restaurant manager kindly brought dinner to the room and laid up outside on the patio. Sat in our fluffy white robes by the pool, we ate like royalty that night, polishing off a delicious three course meal. Needless to say, we slept very well that night.

The next morning, we woke early with the blinding sun piercing through our window, illuminating the whole room. Our pool suite sat so high up in the mountain, that when we sat up in bed we were eye level with the horizon and it was truly magical to see the sun so bright and bold each morning, resting at the point where the sea met the sky.

We strolled down to breakfast at 8am, the earliest I have ever been up on holiday, but it was already so warm and humid that we were ready to start our day. The array of food for breakfast was unimaginable, they had everything including an additional station where one of chef was making fresh crêpes and pancakes, and another was cooking omelettes made to order. Again, we noticed all the staff were faultless, going above and beyond to meet your every need.

After stuffing our faces with as much as we could eat, we made our way back to the suite and this time we decided to walk to enjoy the view; and that we did, it truly was astonishing, particularly at that time in the morning.

After relaxing by our private pool, we decided to head down to the beach, which was situated directly across from the hotel. Another perk for guests staying at the MarBella Nido is the exclusive access to their private stretch of beach, which comes complete with sun loungers and fresh towels. Lazing under parasols on the beach with the crystal blue water gently lapping up onto the sand, we felt ultimate peace and tranquillity.

An hour or two later we began to feel peckish, and we decided to experience the local cuisine as there was a perfectly placed traditional restaurant adjacent to the private beach. The combination of Greek music coupled with calm blue seas and delicious food made the beachside dining the perfect spot for lunch.

Soon after we headed to our room, before we could even start the steep incline to our room, the concierge quickly offered to drive us up to our room with their golf buggies; a major reminder of the world class customer service provided at the MarBella Nido Resort, you are always treated as if you are the most important people staying there. The availability of the golf buggy service allowed you to truly take in the architecture of the entire hotel village, from the infinity pool to how cohesive the villas are structured together. A truly unique and intuitive hotel experience.

When we were dropped off at our room we were welcomed by the astonishing sunset peering through our room which revealed an array of beautiful colours in the sky, that seemed to effortlessly weave into the colour scheme of the resort. One thing that stood out was the silence, which was perfectly fitting of the quote “silence is a gift, learn to value its essence”; it was only after experiencing staying at MarBella Nido that we truly understood this.

While lying there appreciating the villa styled hotel we realised we had not yet experienced the infinity pool bar area. As we approached the pool it was clear to see that this was social hub of the entire hotel. A perfectly placed bar overlooked the infinity pool where guests could enjoy drinks and light bites with a live band resonating in the background. We spent our last evening sipping cocktails at the bar before heading across the road for another taste of traditional Greek cuisine at the local beach bar.

The next morning was sadly our last day at the MarBella Nido Hotel and it was time to check out and say goodbye, but not before we enjoyed yet another breakfast buffet! When it was time to leave we said our goodbyes to all the amazing staff we had grown so fond of and took one last picture of the beautiful hotel before getting into the private transfer car arranged by the hotel to take us to the airport.
