Mercure London Bridge Hotel, for business or pleasure

April 3, 2019

A flagship Mercure hotel, perfectly located in the heart of London, the Mercure London Bridge Hotel offers luxury accommodation just a stone’s throw away from some of London’s greatest attractions; ‘Borough Market’, the ‘Shard’, ‘Tate Modern’ art gallery and ‘Tower Bridge’.

Entering the hotel from the front entrance off Southwark street, we were welcomed with a warm smile from the friendly staff who checked us in. To the right of the reception there were three open plan meeting rooms, each fitted out with contemporary work stations and corporate AV equipment, making it an ideal space to host business events or conferences.

To the left of the reception desk was a large lounge area which was uber stylish and very chic, with a variety of plush chairs and cosy sofa spaces for guests to relax and enjoy a coffee or catch up with friends or just simply wait for a taxi. The rear of the lounge featured a small bar with a spectacular floor to ceiling wine display and this led to the excellent Marco Pierre’s New York Italian Restaurant, which provided an exceptional dining experience for both hotel residents and guests.

We took the elevator to the top floor, where our rooftop suite looked out over the city of London; the views were spectacular and the beautiful weather further enhanced the unique sanctuary feel of our private balcony space. The suite also featured an extravagant queen size bed, work desk, lounge and a huge bathroom fitted with matching his and hers sinks and a walk-in rain shower!

The hotel allows check in as early as 2pm, so we left our bags in our room and spent the rest of the day exploring the local sites, all within an ideal walking distance. Later that evening we were due to attend Luxuria Lifestyle’s International Womens Day Event at The Aures London, so we headed back to the hotel in the early evening to get ready. An hour later the taxi picked us up outside the front of the hotel and in eight minutes we were at the event; the hotel’s location couldn’t have been more convenient.

We returned much later that evening, but before we went to bed, we wrote out our breakfast order for the following morning and left it on the door handle. We were particularly impressed that breakfast on weekdays was served to the room up to 11.30am and standard check out is always midday, making it great for guests like us that had enjoyed a late evening the night before.

When the rather super-sized breakfast tray arrived the following morning, it didn’t take us long to wake up from what had been a peaceful night’s sleep. Again, the blue skies and sunshine created the most incredible suntrap on our balcony, hence we decided to put on our complimentary robes and slippers and indulge in our breakfast delights outside.

When check out time came we were sad to leave however the time we had spent at the Mercure London Bridge Hotel had allowed us to completely unwind and take time for ourselves so we were grateful for that and hope to return very soon!
