Mövenpick Resort and Spa offers visitors an inviting 5 star experience in Bali
August 6, 2019
Staying at Mövenpick Jimbaran was somewhat bittersweet because it was the last two nights of our stay in beautiful Bali after a truly magical trip, but we were happy to be able to experience this incredible resort before we returned home.
Driving into the imposing entrance we were blown away by how stunning the reception and lobby was, with panoramic views overlooking the vast pool area.
Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali is a 5-star resort just less than fie minutes walk from Jimbaran Beach and the perfect place for families , couples and groups of friends alike.
We were greeted very warmly by the charming staff and offered a delicious and refreshing local concoction upon checking in. The lovely marketing manager Mariska then showed us around the lobby area and also gave us an indication as to what we could expect whilst we stayed and the facilities of the hotel, including relaxing at the pool with swim-up hammocks, unwinding with a massage in their luxurious spa, indulging in Peruvian-Japanese cuisine at the Above Eleven Bali rooftop bar with stunning ocean views or one of the five unique dining destinations or shopping at Samasta Lifestyle Village while the children have fun in their pirate-themed Meera Kids Club.
After the wonderful greeting we were whisked to our classic pool room, which had a fresh modern design and a beautiful marble tiled bathroom, where we hurriedly changed eager to get down to the beautiful looking pool area, which we could admire from our balcony. Once comfortable on our sun loungers we ordered lunch of delicious bruschetta, prawn salads and fresh young coconuts to sip on.
We lay by the pool all day basking in the hot sun just so happy to relax for the last two days of the trip, before a long flight home. As the sun was going down we took the short, scenic walk to Jimbaran beach, five minutes away from the hotel, to watch the sunset and marvel at all the people there having the best time. The sunset was magnificent and as the sky was aflame with yellow and orange hues we felt so thankful to be in this beautiful location.
After this serene time on the beach we decided to check out the Arkipela spa which I have to say was probably one of the most beautiful spas I have ever seen in my life. It was designed beautifully in opulent gold tones and was very luxe and high-end as well as feeling extremely serene. We wanted to explore the spa because we had a full body massage booked there the following day. The receptionist was so delightful and we filled out all of our details and requirements which saved time doing so the following day before our appointment.
After all that relaxing we had built up quite an appetite and so we were very excited to be dining at the infamous Above Eleven Bali renowned for it’s cool , vibrant atmosphere and exceptional Peruvian-Japanese cuisine. Above Eleven Bali Rooftop Bar & Restaurant is a stylish rooftop sky bar, restaurant and entertainment venue located on the top floor of Mövenpick Jimbaran Bali. It has sublime views over Jimbaran Bay, innovative cocktails, top quality cuisine, and a great place to soak up the sunset.
The Nikkei cuisine, a blend of Peruvian and Japanese food specialities, is complemented with a raw seafood bar. There was a live DJ delivering up to the minute sets of music that fitted this atmospheric spot to a tee. Even the ladies toilets were hip and designed with stylish tiles, mirrors and little chic details.
We devoured a virtual feast of edamame beans, prawn tempura, soft shell crab, sashimi, crispy fried squid, ceviche and sushi rolls and every dish was absolutely delicious and perfectly prepared. The martini cocktails were a nice treat too after a virtually alcohol free trip! I would highly recommend Above Eleven Bali for a great night, even if one was not staying at the hotel, it’s definitely worth a visit if in the area.
The next day we had a healthy breakfast of fresh fruit despite there being an enormous choice of cooked continental breakfast, fresh pastries and traditional local cooked breakfast options at Anarasa restaurant. After breakfast we wasted no time, since it was our final day in Bali in getting out to the sun loungers to bask in the hot sun. The pool area is vast and extremely pretty with charming features such as little bridges and cabanas and plenty lush vegetation. There was also a fun kids area, where children can splash about to their hearts content and enjoy the water slides and also two other pool areas, which were perfect to relax by and also highly instagramable and we took some time in the middle of the day to get some great photos.
At 1pm we had a wonderful lunch at Anarasa restaurant, a stone’s throw from the pool, with Mariska and Dewi who are responsible for the hotel’s marketing and who recommended some delicious local dishes, which we enjoyed immensely.
International menus are throughout the day at Anarasa restaurant.
Early evening we returned to the opulent Arkipela Spa where our warm and attentive therapists treated us to a decadent two hour full body massage and transported us to heaven. They listened to every request re: the oils used and pressure of the massage and we felt utterly relaxed and floating on air afterwards. They led us to a beautiful relaxation area after the treatment where we could further unwind and sipped warming ginger tea on the comfortable day beds.
Alas we had to pack after the massage and thought it best to order room service of delicious red snapper, which was light and flavoursome. That night we slept like babies and the next day we enjoyed the last couple of hours of sun before our transfer to the airport, kindly arranged by the wonderful staff at the hotel.
We could not have had a more attentive, relaxing stay for the final two days of our trip to Bali and we are so happy we were able to spend it at the delightful venMövenpick in Jimbaran, a place for all to enjoy.
