Nothing Says Valentine’s Day Better than Kissable Lips.

A perfectly proportioned, plump pout has never been more desirable than it is right now. But as much as we’d all like one, the perennial challenge is to avoid looking ‘done.’ Pillow lips may be suitable for a Kardashian sibling but they’re hardly the look that most of us are aiming for. At the moment in the UK there is one doctor that is emerging as the Queen of Lips – talked about by everyone from the yummy mummy Knightsbridge set, to socialites and celebrity VIPS.
Dr Barbara Kubicka is as beautiful herself as many of the actresses she treats, and one of her most remarkable features is her picture perfect pout. Billing her clinic in Knightsbridge as a trout-pout-free zone, she is revolutionising the way that lips are treated basing her technique on a patient’s AGE. Indeed the UK’s most trusted lips expert recognises that sculpting lips is an art as well as a procedure and because of this is quickly becoming the one to go to for lip augmentation in the UK. At ClinicBe, Dr Kubicka has based her entire practice on the bespoke and holistic approach – and believes that every set of lips should be treated entirely differently based on the patient’s age and facial structure.
She tells Luxuria Lifestyle: “In your 20’s lip augmentation is more forgiving and generally the filler is injected right into the lip itself, but as you age, and into your 30’s you will need to lessen the amount of volume you are using if you want a look that is anywhere approaching natural. “ But that’s not the only caveat she offers. “Additionally, the filler should be distributed in a slightly different way. This means less volume into the lips themselves and more around to enable compensation of initiated volume loss in the surrounding area, creating a frame for the lips.”
And ultimately for the over 40’s amongst us, (who really can benefit from the procedure) Dr Kubicka adds, “Lip fillers become increasingly popular after 40 as lips naturally thin at this stage, but it’s imperative that the filler is injected evenly into the lips but as well the lip border and areas around to treat as well lines around the mouth, which allows you to achieve a natural, beautiful look.”
And it’s not just fullness she’s working on. She adds, “Another concern that can be addressed at any age is lip asymmetry or shape correction, but this needs to be discussed on an individual basis. It’s possible to have beautiful lips at any age, you just need to find the right Dr who knows that each and every pair of lips deserves a bespoke approach .”
Dr Kubicka sees a range of age in her patients looking to add volume to the lip area, and in the past year or so, a massive rise in demand for all ages. Patients as young as their twenties are looking to create a fuller smile as are the more typical older patients – given that they have such a powerful anti-ageing effect. And for those who still enjoy the occasional cigarette – they are also particularly effective at gently blending out unsightly smokers’ lines around the edges of the lips.
What you need to know:
The cost is £350, making it a very affordable cosmetic option.
But does it hurt? In terms of the experience, modern lip fillers ofen contain a local anaesthetic making the experience not too challenging. In addition, local anaesthetic gel and/or ice may be used for further comfort. And pain killers are also available on request.
What to expect afterwards?
Patients may experience pain and swelling around the lips for a few days after the procedure, though this should subside naturally. Lip enhancement can take up to half an hour, depending on the number of areas that require attention. The results of a lip enhancement procedure can be expected to last between 3-6 months, after which the treatment can be repeated.
Building on her own reputation for excellence in Doctor-led skincare, Dr Barbara Kubicka established the ClinicBe® brand as a unique concept in integrated skin and healthcare; offering a holistic approach to professional skin treatments.
