Regnum Carya Golf and Spa Resort an Oasis of Style and Opulence in Turkey
July 12, 2017
My thesaurus currently lists 18 synonyms for Paradise – but following our recent holiday I have come to the conclusion that there is one clear omission. Regnum Carya should surely be one of them.
The first thing you notice when you step through the soaring atrium lobby of the Regnum Carya Golf & Spa Resort are the flags and portraits of the most powerful men and women in the world. Playing a central hotel role during the Antalya G20 Summit in 2015 – the resort was home to Barack Obama, President Erdogan, Chancellor Merkel and Presidents and Prime Ministers from around the world. And stepping into this oasis of style and opulence– it’s easy to understand why it was chosen.
Based in the popular southern Turkish region of Antalya, perched proudly along the Mediterranean coastline, this hotel oozes style and luxury. Already iconic since its 2014 opening, this project was conceived by Regnum, part of the Öztürk Group of Companies, a name already well known in international golf tourism, the group made the move to the hotel operations side with the opening of Regnum Carya Golf & Spa Resort. And it’s a very auspicious beginning to say the least.
Here, bigger really is better. The 1200-bed stunning resort is set on an astonishing 250 acres – thoughtfully and intentionally designed so that even when full, it feels like it’s your own private paradise. During our stay, I was astounded to discover upon leaving that the resort has been at 96% occupancy; as it always felt relatively empty. The enormous 100 metre long central pool was empty for our pre-breakfast swim before breakfast, and there were always a wide range of pillowed chaise lounges available in prime positions. There were no queues for the water slides in the kids’ club, ever, and always friendly staff on hand to serve. There are 433 elegant rooms and suites located in a main building of the hotel, which offer either a sea or golf course view. There are also 100 or so private villas with private pools and views of lush gardens and golf greens. We opted for a villa with its own private pool, for the ultimate seclusion, and what came next was the holiday of a lifetime.
The rooms themselves are chic, with a minimalist style yet sumptuously appointed. Think cream coloured travertine marble, crisp white lines and kitted out with every imaginable luxury. Our enormous television was cleverly located inside a giant mirror across from our bed –and sprung to Technicolor life with the push of a button. Indeed, everything here is 5 star, from the latest technology to the Bvlgari toiletries in the marble bathroom.
In terms of what to do first – we were spoiled for choice. The all inclusive resort has a lot to offer; boasting an indoor pool, an outdoor heated pool, a 2500 metre wave pool, eight bars, a serene, state-of-the-art spa and seven exquisite restaurants, tennis courts and a variety of water sport activities.
The kids’ club is the best I’ve ever seen – bar none. My four year old was, perhaps for the first time ever, at a loss for words. With it’s twisting body slides, shaded pool, wave pool, a host of water slides and what can only be described as a colourful and giant playground in the middle of wild sprinklers –it is nothing less than an adolescent utopia. There is also a pine forest adventure park with climbing wall and zip line, and an indoor soft play, pirate ship, bikes and cars for driving and more. The kids’ club is also open until midnight – making it possible for mum and dad to enjoy a leisurely dinner knowing their children are having the time of their lives.
There is also an on site Patisserie that looks like a cross between Willie Wonka and Boulevard Saint-Germain, offering colourful pastries, mouth-watering mini-cakes and savoury finger sandwiches with soft drink and coffees of all varieties (iced coffee with whipped cream was a favourite) all day. Naturally all here is included as part of the stay; and a delightful place to spend time checking emails or entertaining small people during the hottest part of the day.
But if looking to escape from little ones – there are a myriad of delightful options. My husband and I particularly loved the new adults’ only beach club – a chic retreat, full of dark blue cushions strewn across white shaded lounges, an inviting pool set amidst palm trees and a swim-up bar. A waitress on roller skates serves cocktails to order with a chilled out play list and a gentlemen coming by to clean sunglasses. Basically a perfect afternoon.
And Sportsman Rejoice! For here is your wonderland. For football lovers, in addition to 3 FIFA standard Football pitches, Real Madrid arrived this summer for its first ever series of football clinics in Turkey, launched exclusively at Regnum Carya Golf & Spa Resort. Professional coaches from the Real Madrid Foundation will hold weeklong football clinics all summer long. Here young players aged six to 17 will train with Real Madrid coaches and its available to both guests of the hotel and other footballers from around the world.
And as its name suggests, it is also a magnet for golfers. The host of the 2016 Turkish Airlines Open in November, golf is at the heart of the resort, which houses two world-class courses. The Carya Golf Club features the 18-hole Championship Golf Course, designed by Ryder Cup Player David Feherty and Senior Tour Player David Jones and is Europe’s only fully-floodlit course (recognised as one of the world’s top 100) .
A state-of-the-art organic spa with first-class therapists and treatments is a serene sanctuary. And private pier villas over the water are available to rent – ensuring you have no reason to leave your privileged perch just atop the sparkling sea – whilst helpful staff bring you iced cold towels and refreshing drinks.
If there is a more luxurious ‘all-inclusive’ hotel in the world, I’ve yet to find it. From the moment you arrive, until you unwillingly take your leave, food and drink, mini bar, meals and snacks, everything is included. And here, all is exceptional – nothing is left to chance. Having recently won a TripAdvisor Traveller’s Choice award, the hotel’s mantra is ‘beyond ordinary’ – and I can say with all sincerity they have far exceeded their own expectations.
Regnum Carya Golf & Spa Resort is located in Belek, just 25 minutes from Antalya airport.
