A Luxurious Countryside Escape at The Mercure Elcot Newbury Park
August 24, 2018
The luxury four star Mercure Newbury Elcot Park Hotel is a stunning Georgian Manor house just little over an hour away from central London.
To really feel like you’ve escaped the city for some true countryside relaxation, the hotel is situated amongst 16 acres of greenery as far as the eye can see.
With three room types – classic, privilege and superior, our privilege room feature HD TV, free wifi, comfortable king size bed, Nespresso machine and a robe and slippers for extra comfort! We also had a lovely spacious balcony area which was the perfect place to enjoy a late night glass of wine and a morning coffee.
The award winning Orangery Restaurant and Bar which boasts an AA Rosette for Culinary Excellence, offers delicious food in a relaxed setting, with optional outdoor dining. If the weather allows, you should definitely take advantage of a table on the terrace to take in those beautiful views beyond two beautifully grand lion statues. It was the perfect place to watch the sunset whilst enjoy a wonderful three course dinner.
For dinner, the lobster soup starter came with a plentiful selection of king prawns and seared scallops. Luxurious, rich and creamy with that unmistakable lobster flavour, it was a perfect balance of soup and seafood. The chef’s signature dish was also hearty and delicious – beware, it’s extremely filling! Accompanying the juicy lamb rack, a tasty sun dried tomato polenta, and roasted veg, with a contrasting apple and prune chutney, was finished with a drizzle of tangy rosemary jus. This dish had so many different flavours happening, but they all worked together really well. The menu also offers a range of cocktails and wines by the bottle as well as beer, and mains like cod, duck and chicken, along with steak and market fish from the grill.
With a comfortable reception area, a friendly bar and an equestrian theme running throughout the hotel (you can’t miss the life sized horse as you pass through the corridors) The Mercure Elcot Newbury Park is a popular choice for weddings with its sweeping staircase, open fireplace and wedding planners on hand to make sure the day goes without a hitch. There’s also plenty of events which take place here, including the upcoming Adele tribute act on the 20th October. Find out more details by emailing email@example.com
