Perfection is hard to achieve  in the hotel, spa and service industry, 9/10 is a very regular measurement of standards  on a variety of review sites. Bali features many stunning 5 star hotel and villa resorts, but there is often one little tiny nugget missing , in my humble opinion to just miss out on that one mark that gives a 10/10. Maybe it’s the location, the sun loungers not being comfortable enough, too close to the airport creating noise, or something equally small, but it’s rarely the rooms, suites or the dining.

Samabe Bali Villas and Resorts on the other hand is simply the best, 10/10, the complete package! As we arrived along the tree lined, 5 star resort lined road, climbing gently upwards we took in the luscious foliage and felt the anticipation building. The hotel reception was bright spacious and airy, open to the elements and surrounded by beautiful ponds with lily pads, koi carp and stunningly landscaped gardens, and we checked in in style with a selection of fresh juices and hot towels, what a way to star our mini break!

We checked in to our One Bedroom Suite that featured a private infinity pool with views to die for, it was simply breath taking. Our suite included two queen sized beds, an amazingly huge bathroom, and a large well appointed dining and lounge area. Every guest is gifted a rather glamorous sun hat and beach bag, essentials for the Bali sun keeping your skin and beach goodies safe. The view of the ocean was visible from the bed and was a beautiful way to wake up. Our infinity pool was a truly luxurious addition to the high-end suite and presented a fabulous opportunity to cool down in at the end of the very humid evenings.

We spent as many hours as possible soaking up the sun just before returning to the UK, on the beach and around the pool. This ‘all-inclusive’ resort really does include everything, the restaurants are exquisite, all including a wide variety of superb food and drink options (alcohol served during 5-10pm only). We enjoyed delicious lunchtime meals by the pool, such as falafel wraps, salads, and many healthy options, all served piping hot, how do they do that?!

In the evening we enjoyed the Crystal Blue restaurant, here I decided to come off the previous two weeks alcohol detox and indulge in some rather gorgeous rosé, just two glasses. The restaurant has an exciting menu, we had some delicious fresh fish and prawns, presented artistically. Every single dish, whether it was at breakfast, lunch or dinner, or room service was impeccable. The service was indeed silver, the table displays were of the highest standard, crystal glassware and silver cutlery. Dining in Crystal Blue was a wonderful experience overlooking the stunning views of the ocean, with candles and soft lighting, a truly romantic and ambient atmosphere, one I will never forget.

Breakfast can be taken in the main dining room, it’s a cool airy spacious and glamorous restaurant and features every conceivable breakfast goodie, including freshly cooked options, I chose my favourite – sourdough toast with crushed avocado and poached eggs, preceded by yoghurt and fresh fruit and delicious Balinese coffee. On our last morning we opted for a floating breakfast in our suite, in the infinity pool, such a lovely experience and a wonderful way to finish our short and extremely special stay. Enjoying the sumptuous breakfast in our own suite in the pool with the amazing view was a real treat, and an experience that probably won’t ever be repeated!

The beach at Samabe is accessed via either 260 steps, easy going down, but rather more taxing on the way back! Or by a cliff front lift, far more civilised. And when you reach the beach you will be greeted by the most clear blue sea and soft white sand, not to mention more comfy sunbeds under protective foliage creating some very welcome shade. We spent several hours here on our final afternoon, drinking a coconut cocktail, non-alcoholic, from a coconut shell. The beach was peaceful and luxurious, with soft fluffy towels and quiet waiter service, we didn’t want to leave. I took in the view and made myself commit it to memory, it was one of the most special afternoons we had experienced in Bali, made all the more special with the ‘afternoon tea’ in the beach cave.

A couple of weddings were taking place during our stay, with the ocean and beach as a backdrop I can’t think of a more perfect setting, and with the hotel hospitality team working to ensure perfection, these events were destined to be seamless, stress free occasions.

The Samabe property covers several acres of beautifully designed gardens, pathways and secret scenic instagramable spots, hundreds of photo opportunities, an outside kitchen for cookery classes, some locally created and carved wood work, and a small gift shop, all accessible with the help of chauffeur driven buggies.

Samabe offer a wide variety of excursions – sea walking, car dining, yes that’s dining not diving! You can go snorkelling or visit a temple, but your ‘endless privileges’ (all-inclusive package) includes two of the following:

We decided the Balinese seem to specialise in massage so we chose a 60 minute massage and the 30 minute reflexology by the pool, the therapists were highly skilled and the treatments were second to none, absolutely delightful, we highly recommend a visit to the spa.

This resort is all encompassing, you’re in a luxurious bubble of perfection, I would return here in a nano second.
