The Art of Aviation

Taking inspiration from the world of flight has long been a source of creativity for the world’s most celebrated artists, a place where art, architecture and engineering all come together in one space. And in the spirit of this formidable synergy, Jetcraft, the world leader in business jet sales and acquisitions, recently announced a collaboration with ground-breaking, contemporary artist Richard Orlinski.

A modern, French pop artist who crafts colourful sculptures inspired by wild animals, renowned for popular iconography such as skulls, King Kong and Superman, Orlinski has completed several customized collaborations in the past, including the trophy for the French Grand Prix, a watch for Hublot and exclusive designs for Lamborghini and Porsche. On display at the Nice business aviation terminal, his new, striking collaboration with Jetcraft features his iconic King Kong sculpture holding aloft a powerful business jet.

“Richard and I share a mutual love for aviation and we didn’t hesitate when the opportunity arose for joint collaboration,” says Jahid Fazal-Karim, Jetcraft’s owner and chairman of the board, “Richard works with some of the same calibre of clients as Jetcraft, and his perspective as an artist reflects the kind of personalised, bespoke responsiveness that is part of our culture at Jetcraft. This partnership underlines how we understand the desires and motivations of our clientele and the manner in which we work together to provide tailored options that address their needs.”

Richard Orlinksi adds: “Over the past few years my interest in aviation has grown and I began looking into ways that I could incorporate my love for aviation into one of my pieces. I knew I wanted to include one of my favourite sculptures – King Kong – and began working with Jahid to bring this project to life.” He adds, “The collaboration gives centre stage to the Wild Kong who is lifting the distinctive Global 7500, which pays tribute to the world of cinema and the silver screen classic King Kong. I wanted to explore the contrast between Kong, his primal instinct and showcasing the aircraft as a symbol of the new world and civilized society.”

In light of recent global events and its impact on aviation – this new collaboration strikes a particularly relevant note. Says Jahid Fazal-Karim, “This sculpture is incredibly inspiring to me, encapsulating how we are still taking flight, even during these challenging times. We look forward to continuing our work with Richard and producing additional inspiring and very personalised collaborations.”

Orlinski’s King Kong installation can be viewed at the Jetcraft kiosk at the business aviation terminal in Nice, France.
