The Fizz Company specialising in small producer and ‘grower’ champagnes
April 3, 2019
The Fizz Company is a specialist online champagne and sparkling wine retailer. They seek out wines from small, family producers who offer something different, rarer and a little more special than the offerings from Grande Marque champagne houses.
They were voted one of the best ten online wine shops last year by The Independent and their champagnes and sparkling wines have won many awards.
The Fizz Company is family owned, with modest beginnings as a hobby business. It’s owned by Tony Stones, a champagne specialist and a judge at the International Wine Challenge. Today The Fizz Company is run by his wife Helen; as an ex- nurse for whom customer service is a top priority.
Janisson Champagne House
Rising enigmatically from the Montagne de Reims in the Grand Cru village of Verzenay, Manuel Janisson’s state-of-the-art winery adds a modern twist to the traditional art of champagne making. From the tasting room terrace, visitors can admire another combination of old and new- a view of historic Reims and the TGVs hurtling through the valley.
With this modular architectural gem, set among vines between a windmill and a lighthouse, manuel and his winemaker Cyril Tanazacq produce some of the the freshest, most precisely assembled grand Cru champagnes in France.
Manuel, whose grandfathers were both champagne producers, combines elegantly the best traditions of champagne production with cutting-edge technology, describing his winemaking as a mix of passion and patience.
Janisson Blanc de Noirs Grand Cru champagne
This champagne is made with 100% Grand Cru Pinot Noir grapes from the famous Montagne de Reims, an area renowned for the quality of grapes grown there. This champagne has divine flavours of ripe, red fruits, apricots and buttery pastry; freshened by little hints of citrus. The balance between acidity and full-bodied richness in this champagne is sublime.
