The Wellington Club – meet, inspire, connect, play… enjoy!

I was recently invited to have dinner at the newly relaunched Wellington Club and since I remember partying the night away in their Knightsbridge location (a popular celeb haunt) I couldn’t resist visiting their new spot on Jermyn Street, one of my favourite streets in London, a street steeped in history.

The restaurant, two bars, five private rooms and a cigar room over two floors make the venue a fun and vibrant hosting destination for almost any event, from a small private meeting to a formal evening reception, a luxury product launch or even a lavish award ceremony.

They offer a delicious Modern European menu and the club’s Executive Chef Brett Duarte and his team work relentlessly to deliver a constantly evolving unique dining experience by using only the best available, in-season, locally sourced ingredients.

Walking in and taking a seat at the stunning bar with Damien Hirst’s statement Disco Skull “For The Love Of God” taking centre stage a couple of signatures High-End Fizz Cocktails (made with Chivas Regal 18, lemon, clementine, lemongrass and soda) seemed like the perfect way to commence the evening. It was fascinating to watch the mixologist work his magic behind the bar and the cocktails were a tangy delight on the tongue.

Following our cocktails, chatting with my guest and enjoying people watching, we lapped up the atmosphere, it was alive and buzzing with couples, and groups of friends (who all looked like they were having a jolly good time!) we were taken to the table by our effusive waiter.

My guest and I enjoyed the pan-fried scallops with sweetcorn purée, dried ham and shallot jus to start. They were cooked to perfection and were generous sized scallops but even still I could have eaten them all over again as they were so succulent and delicious!

We must’ve been on the same page as we then ordered identical mains of Whole Cornish Dover Sole Meunière which was meaty and tasty and melted in the mouth.

Our waiter was charming and attentive throughout our meal in a sincere and genuine way.

Despite being comfortably full after our first two courses we simply couldn’t resist a cheeky dessert (to share I might add!) of Chocolate ganache, peanut butter mousse and honeycomb. And what a treat for the palate it was! The perfect way to end our meal.

Sadly we did not get a chance to experience the nightclub, but it was the most enjoyable evening, enjoying our fabulous feast in the cool and quirky restaurant – whose walls are adorned with hand-painted and original graffiti by Damien Hirst, which sit alongside the artist’s rare large-scale ‘The Hours’ print and not forgetting the disco skull, ‘For the Love Of God’.

The food was delectable, cocktails delicious and the atmosphere was buzzing. It’s the perfect place to go on a date, with a friend or a group and enjoy a fantastic night!
