Four Common Skin Issues That You May Encounter

Most of us tend to get a little sensitive about our skin, and it is perfectly easy to understand why. There is nothing more frustrating than a painful recurring issue, or an angry red patch that pops up at the worst possible time. However, even though you may get frustrated with your skin, it is important to remember that most of the issues that we encounter are very common. It is just as important to remember that you need to be kind to your skin, and that starts with understanding what the issue you are looking at is. Here are some of the most common.

Eczema

If you notice that your skin is looking inflamed, red, and dry, then the chances are that you may be suffering from Eczema. Most people who get this condition regularly tend to have dry skin, and that means that it quickly becomes irritated and inflamed. It is a very common condition in children, and around one in every thirty adults has atopic eczema. There is no cure perse but being kind to your skin is a great way to start. You would be amazed by how many people avoid exercising because of the way skin conditions like eczema make their skin look. Try to avoid irritating the area further and use some gentle moisturiser to calm it down. If you are really worried about it, talk to your GP.

Psoriasis

A slightly less common skin issue is psoriasis. This affects around two in every 100 people in the United Kingdom and generally appears as dry flaky skin. They can appear as pink or red patches, with silvery scales. One of the most important things to know about psoriasis is that the impact of it can vary hugely depending on person to person. It is possible to have a simple, small patch of psoriasis, or you can suffer from a much more severe case. If you want to learn more about psoriasis and the best way to treat it, visit Patient. Acne

Most people will experience some form of acne when they are teenagers, but there are a lot of people out there who experience adult acne too. It is a broad term that covers a lot of different skin issues including blackheads, pimples, cysts, and nodules. Acne often appears on the face, but it can also appear on your chest and on your back. It occurs when hair follicles and glands under your skin become blocked. There is a wide range of different treatments available, but if you are really concerned about your acne, speak to your doctor.

Shingles

Unlike the other skin conditions listed here, shingles are caused by a virus. Before you panic that it might be monkeypox, here are a few common signs. It will appear as an angry red rash that may blister. If you have shingles, you may experience other symptoms, including a bad headache, a fever, or a general feeling of fatigue. It can be quite painful having shingles, so if you think that you may have contracted them, you should contact your doctor as soon as possible to discuss treatment options for you.
