Villa Mamas London: Blends Bahraini, Middle Eastern and Persian flavours
Villa Mamas, founded by Chef Roaya Saleh in 2012, began as an intimate neighbourhood dining destination in the Saar district of Bahrain. With a background in banking, Roaya’s passion for food led her to leave her corporate career and pursue her culinary calling. What started as a humble restaurant has evolved into a global celebration of Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, and Persian cuisine. Chef Roaya’s unique approach blends her Khaleeji heritage with international flavours, inspired by her extensive travels and personal creativity.
Famous for its home-style hospitality, Villa Mamas is an extension of Roaya’s kitchen, where tradition meets innovation. Signature dishes such as Qurma Sabzi, Homemade Khubus with Mahyawa, and Baba’s Tikka and Hummus showcase the restaurant’s dedication to fresh, organic, and seasonal ingredients. Guests also love the signature spicy chilli sauces, crafted from chillies grown on Roaya’s farm.
The first UK outpost opened in London’s South Kensington in 2017, bringing the warmth of Khaleeji food and communal dining to the heart of the city. Building on its success, Villa Mamas expanded to Abu Dhabi in 2020 and Riyadh in 2022, with exciting new openings planned as part of its global journey. Each location brings its own interpretation of Villa Mamas’ ethos, blending a respect for heritage with a commitment to evolving Middle Eastern dining on a global stage.
Villa Mamas welcomes guests for lunch and dinner, offering a dining experience that is both elevated and cosy. Whether it’s a special gathering or a casual meal, visitors are invited to explore a menu that merges family-style sharing dishes with innovative twists – from global inspirations to beloved Bahraini and Lebanese classics. With a focus on community, Villa Mamas supports local farmers and showcases a range of mocktails and speciality drinks.
