Carnaby London experiences

London has an eclectic mix of dining, everything from street vendors to five-star excellence, authenticity being key to success.

Carnaby London is home to some fine examples of authentic cuisines, a couple of our favourites were Inko Nito, Jinjuu and Ugly Dumpling placed right in the heart of Carnaby and surrounded by dozens of boutiques, so when you’re thoroughly all ‘shopped out’, treat yourself to a culinary feast in one these fabulous restaurants.

Inko Nito is a casual Japanese restaurant that serves unconventional robatayaki Japanese fare and sushi, combining a laid-back setting with innovative flavours.

Open for all-day dining, your spot near the open-grill where the food is cooked freshly as you order it, you can watch it being prepared from your counter seat at the open grill, and the aromas are tantalising, teasing your taste buds in preparation of the dishes to come.

We enjoyed some Maki rolls and salmon sashimi to begin with, followed by Panko prawns with yuzu shichimi dressing and daikon, Steamed prawn and leek dumplings with ginger ponzu and Japanese breadcrumb fried chicken with peanut, chilli garlic yoghurt. It was all beautifully presented and delicious, light and fresh. We finished with one each of the two desserts on the menu and deconstructed cheesecake and a chocolate ice cream option, both totally indulgent and highly calorific, but it’s the weekend and we had walked 14,000 steps around Carnaby and felt we deserved the energy boost!

In the evening we fancied  Korean as we’d not had that particular cuisine before, so we booked a table at the supremely popular and busy Jinjuu in Soho and it sounded delicious, the menu small and concise.  We chose the Korean fried chicken sliders, and Beef and pork Mandoo dumplings to start with, followed by smoked baby back pork ribs, fish tempura and baked black cod. The Jinjuu team helped us to decide and described each dish perfectly, it was all presented with flair,  everything was tasty, hot and a delight on the taste buds. Jinjuu’s menu of sharing platters gravitate towards Korean comfort foods and perfectly compliments the Soju cocktails and Asian beer.

And finally a casual but totally delightful little restaurant and the first-ever restaurant from Ugly Dumpling. It features a fusion of Western and Eastern flavours transforming the humble dumpling from an Asian street snack into a new dining sensation. Set over two floors, step inside for a unique combination of artisan dumplings that have proven popular with Londoners on the street market scene. Enjoy traditional Asian classics including Aromatic Duck and Pork Belly in dumpling form as well as innovative new concoctions including Cheeseburger and Mushroom & Truffle dumplings.

With only a couple of days to sample a few dining choices in Carnaby London we definitely feel the need to return. We explored the famous Kingly Court’s fine selection of street food style restaurants and it’s a ‘must see’ destination to experience the real Carnaby.

That was our dining expereince in Carnaby London, but I was also lucky enough to sample a Skin Laundry laser facial. Skin Laundry does not offer just your regular facials, these are meducal grade and as such require an extensive and concise consultation.

Advanced technology to rejuvenate your skin cells, boost collagen production, and improve clarity for transformative results, there is no-downtime with these laser facials that are customised to best suit your personal skincare needs and are safe and effective for all skin types. You are required to have a 15 minute NG Yag laser treatment first as part of the consultation and for the operator to best assess your needs, it’s an introductory  treatment, but even so my skin felt extremely fresh and clean. Check-out the website to see options and prices here.
