Fizz and Fun as the Megaro Eatery Brings a pop of colour

Northern Italian is the theme here, with a variety of pasta dishes, all hand made, and with succulent ‘marinated and cured’ meats on-site. There is an obvious passion at this restaurant for both quality and sustainable foods with provenance. Their catchphrase is quality, passion and seasonality – and that’s what you get with an ever-changing menu.

Set within the colourful and iconic Megaro Hotel, Pop Sagori by the Megaro Eatery is a riot of eye-catching decor, vibrant music, fabulous cuisine and magical cocktails courtesy of celebrated mixologist, Osvaldo Romito (@osvaldoromito).

While the Balearic and acid house music is straight from the 80s, everything else about Pop Sagori is bang up to date and, is everything that London does best – moreish food and cocktails with a side order of quirky fun.

While Pop Sagori does offer lighter options including paninis, salads and sharing platters, our visit was the starting point to a night out in London so, we decided to go with the whole experience, or as much as we could manage.

We started with the Fried Cod Arancini with buffalo mozzarella which was light and fluffy with a perfectly crisped exterior. Probably one of the best arancini I’ve tried – and a steal at £6. Another amazing dish was the risotto and oxtail rigatoni – the depth of flavour in this was out of this world.

Next, we moved onto the Squid Ink Spaghetti with Dorset crab and San Marzano tomatoes – a delight in both presentation and taste. At just £12, this generously portioned main course was expertly cooked and was just bursting with flavour.

We finished with a Classic Tiramisu and washed down our meal with a couple of much-recommended cocktails; a classic Negroni and an extravagant twist on the Espresso Martini.

While we opted for seafood-based dishes, we did note that Pop Sagori has some great options for vegetarians and vegans including Wholemeal Casarecce with aubergine stew, basil, pine nuts and olives and, Flourless Potato Gnocchi with fontina cheese and candied walnut.

Much more than just a restaurant, Pop Sagori is all about great food and drinks and fabulous music set within the quirky and sumptuous Megaro Hotel – and all just a stone’s throw from Kings Cross and St Pancras stations. The great location, fast and friendly service, fantastic and affordable food and fun vibe of Pop Sagori will mean that we’ll be popping back as often as possible!

The venue is about to be revamped and restyled, so don’t miss it or the amazing food and experience.
