Read on for an exclusive glimpse into her world of refinement and innovation.
What inspired you to become a plastic surgeon and aesthetic practitioner?
I was always fascinated by facial reconstructive surgery after trauma or oncological surgery and from there I developed a passion for applying the same principles to rejuvenating and beautifying aesthetic patients with the help of non-surgical or minimally invasive treatments.
Can you share some notable trends in the field of aesthetic medicine?
We’re seeing a huge trend towards holistic “well-ageing” medicine, from diet and supplements to bio-stimulating injectables like Exosomes, Polynucleotides or treatments like Microneedling Radiofrequency, Ultrasound and BBL, Thulium- and Erbiumlasers. There is demand for a more natural approach with undetectable beautiful results and patients are more interested in improving the vitality of their skin by stimulating their bodies’ natural repair and rejuvenating processes.
How do you approach creating a personalised treatment plan for your clients?
I take a lot of time to assess and understand my patient’s concerns. We often also use a Visia Skin-Scan to analyse parameters like UV damage, texture and fine lines and wrinkles. I then give my professional opinion and advice on how to best achieve their goals, always trying to give various options to accommodate my patient’s schedules and budgets, Since it often takes a multifaceted approach for best results, I tell my patients not to feel overwhelmed, as they don’t have to decide which of these treatments they want to do, but instead simply to decide which one to start with!
What sets Mallucci Mayfair apart in terms of client experience and results?
We pride ourselves in providing an elegant and relaxing space for our patients from the moment they arrive in our clinic. Our staff and practitioners are all highly qualified and trained and we’re offering state-of-the-art treatments and devices that are delivering safe and effective results. Under one roof you find all you need to feel and look your best!
Could you highlight a particularly rewarding or challenging case in your career?
I’ve had many patients that I could help to regain joy and confidence but who first comes to my mind is a lovely lady who came to see me for severe hyperpigmentation (“Melasma”) on her face. She felt severely self-conscious about the dark patches and didn’t feel able to leave the house or face anyone without the application of heavy concealer makeup. We were able to brighten and even out her complexion and within months I could see her transforming into a super-confident, outgoing and happy woman. She still comes to see me regularly and I’m so happy I was able to help her on this journey!
How has technology advanced the field of plastic surgery and aesthetics?
Most of the new technology has been aimed at enabling minimal- or non-invasive procedures to achieve impressive results without the need to go under the knife. This usually means no anaesthesia, no or minimal scaring, no or shorter downtime and very natural results. But this new technology doesn’t always replace plastic surgery, often it’s also a great add-on and can complement surgical procedures.
What advice do you have for individuals considering aesthetic procedures for the first time?
As a Consultant Plastic Surgeon, I believe that it is our duty as practitioners to deliver the very best medical care and therefore I would always recommend finding someone as highly trained as possible to provide your treatment. Even non-surgical or minimal-invasive procedures should be taken seriously, so I would ensure that you are in knowledgeable hands. This ensures that you not only minimize the potential associated risks but are also well taken care of in the event of any unwanted side effects.
In your opinion, how important is the psychological aspect of aesthetic treatments?
Feeling beautiful boosts our confidence and happiness, it can help to make you feel good in your skin and body. My patients often say they want their appearance to reflect how they feel inside, so I think aesthetic procedures are a great tool to show your inner beauty and joy.
What do you envision for the future of plastic surgery and aesthetics?
I think more and more there will be a holistic approach to achieving Well-Aging. Patients want to achieve natural results and are happy to approach them with lifestyle changes like sufficient sleep, regular exercise and healthy diets and supplements as well as taking care of their skin and body with bio-stimulating treatments and skincare on a cellular level, aiming at repairing and rejuvenating their appearance. In terms of more invasive procedures, there is a trend towards gentler approaches that respect the individuality of the patients. The goal is to prevent, delay and reverse age-related changes without losing your own natural beauty.
Can you provide insights into any upcoming innovations or trends in the industry?
In my opinion, we’re only seeing the beginning of cellular rejuvenating treatments with the introduction of polynucleotides, exosomes and other bio-remodelling skin boosters that can be used on their own or which I love, tailored to your individual needs be combined with energy-based devices like radiofrequency, ultrasound or laser to gently but efficiently improve the texture, tone and radiance of our skin.
