Our journey began with a seamless arrival at Malé International Airport, where we were greeted warmly by the RAAYA staff. Everything was taken care of – our luggage whisked away and boarding for our seaplane transfer arranged with such ease, we hardly lifted a finger. The seaplane flight was an experience in itself: gliding above as tiny islands floated like emeralds in a sea of blues and greens was nothing short of breathtaking.

As we approached the island, we could hear the rhythmic beat of boduberu drums welcoming us – a vibrant and heartfelt Maldivian tradition. We were handed a flute of champagne as we stepped onto the jetty, smiling faces all around. The arrival lounge, with its barefoot luxury vibe and open views of the lagoon, was the perfect prelude to what RAAYA had in store.

Home at the Beach Villa with Private Pool

Our home was one of RAAYA’s Beach Villas with a private pool, and it was nothing short of exquisite. A lifestyle upgrade in every sense, the villa opened up into a bright, spacious interior with a king-sized bed that seemed to float in the middle of the room. Earthy tones, natural textures, and lush greenery outside created an atmosphere of total calm.

The villa’s private pool was our haven – perfect for a quiet dip under the stars or a sun-drenched afternoon with our little boy splashing away. Just steps away, the white sandy beach met the serene lagoon, offering a view that felt like it belonged to us alone.

The RAAYA Plan: Thoughtful Luxury

One of the standout features of our stay was the RAAYA Plan, which offered far more than a traditional all-inclusive. It felt curated – designed with both indulgence and adventure in mind. From our effortless arrival and departure transfers to the carefully selected range of premium beverages, every detail has been thought through. The plan also included à la carte dining at multiple venues, a daily replenished minibar, non-motorised water sports, sunset cruises, snorkelling excursions, and more.

A Romantic Escape at Seb’s Farm

One evening, we experienced one of the highlights of our trip: a romantic dinner at Seb’s Farm. Tucked away in a quiet corner of the island, the setting was intimate and magical. Soft lighting, rustic tables under a canopy of stars, and the hum of the island night created an ambience that was both elegant and deeply personal.

The menu was exceptional – a farm-to-table journey that celebrated freshness and flavour. We tasted dishes crafted from vegetables and herbs grown on the farm itself, paired with locally sourced seafood. Everything was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Our little one was welcomed with smiles and genuine warmth, and the staff were wonderfully accommodating, making the evening feel truly special for our whole family.

Before dinner, we toured Seb’s Farm and were introduced to the crops and sustainable practices. It added a rich layer of appreciation to the meal, knowing exactly where our food came from and how it was nurtured.

Wellness and Waters: ELE|NA Ayur Spa

For moments of deeper relaxation, the ELE|NA Ayur Spa offered a tranquil escape. I enjoyed the signature massage and left feeling restored in body and mind. My therapist had a gentle, intuitive touch, and the natural oils and soothing setting made it an experience I won’t soon forget.

Of course, the Maldives is just as much about adventure, and RAAYA delivered in spades. There was snorkelling in vibrant reefs, sunset cruises, diving excursions, and a morning floating breakfast that arrived like a dream – colourful platters of tropical fruit, fresh pastries, and eggs cooked to order, all served in a floating tray in our private pool.

We witnessed incredible sunrises and sunsets, each one painting the sky with shades of tangerine, lavender, and gold. These moments – so quiet and profound – became our absolute favourite.

Heartfelt Hospitality

A special mention must go to Saraah, our host, who checked in on us regularly via WhatsApp and ensured that everything ran smoothly. At RAAYA, each guest is assigned a dedicated host, and this personal touch makes all the difference. Whether we had a question, a request, or simply wanted to plan our day, Saraah was always there – gracious, proactive, and warm.

Every meal we enjoyed across the resort was fresh and beautifully presented. Whether it was the catch of the day grilled to perfection, handmade pastas, or light bites by the beach, the team took pride in every plate.

A Place That Stays With You

As we departed, once again with that same seamless service, I looked back one last time at the jetty, the drums now silent, the sun just beginning to rise. The island has given us memories we’ll carry forever. Sunsets and sea breezes, laughter and luxury, the peace of floating in warm waters with nothing to do but be. RAAYA isn’t just a destination.
