The Bentley Hotel: Classic Luxury in Kensington, London

On a quiet street in Kensington, The Bentley Hotel London offers a version of luxury that is both traditional and indulgent. Set within three Georgian townhouses, the five-star property combines historic architecture with interiors that lean towards the grand and opulent.

Rooms and Suites

The hotel offers 64 rooms and suites, each designed with an emphasis on space and classical style. High ceilings, heavy fabrics, and period furnishings set the tone, while the bathrooms are a highlight. Finished in marble, many include whirlpool or jetted tubs, separate walk-in showers, and, in the suites, gold-plated fixtures. Modern amenities such as flat-screen televisions, minibars, and safes ensure comfort, but the overall atmosphere is deliberately traditional rather than contemporary. Suites provide additional living areas and more elaborate finishes, enhancing the sense of indulgence.

Dining and Drinks

Peridot, the hotel’s main restaurant, sits beneath a glass ceiling and serves breakfast, lunch, and afternoon tea. The menu is centred on British and European classics, and afternoon tea remains a signature offering, popular with both guests and visitors. The Malachite Bar provides a contrasting evening setting. Richly decorated with green marble and soft lighting, it serves cocktails, Champagne, and light snacks in an intimate, old-world atmosphere.

Facilities and Spa

The Bentley is home to Le Kalon Spa, which features what is promoted as London’s only authentic Turkish hammam. This marble and mosaic-lined space offers traditional cleansing rituals as well as a menu of facials, massages, and beauty treatments. A small fitness room is available, though the absence of a swimming pool may be a consideration for some travellers. The hotel also offers several event and meeting spaces, decorated in the same ornate style as the rest of the property.

Location

Location is one of The Bentley’s strongest assets. Tucked away from the busier roads, it enjoys a calm, residential atmosphere while remaining within walking distance of the Natural History Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Royal Albert Hall, and the shops of Knightsbridge. Gloucester Road underground station is close by, offering easy access to the wider city.

The hotel doesn’t try to compete with larger properties in the area, but for guests seeking classic luxury in a quieter corner of the city, it offers an indulgent and characterful stay.
