Luxuria Lifestyle interviews Mike Manders of Nôsa

Welcome to an exclusive interview with Mike Mnaders, the visionary behind Nôsa, a premier bathroom manufacturing company. Let’s delve into his insights and experiences shaping the industry:

What inspired you to venture into the bathroom manufacturing business, and how has Nôsa’s journey unfolded since its inception?

I was initially asked to head up an American arm of an existing luxury bathroom company, having held senior management roles around the world, UAE, Qatar, and London. However, once I got into the details of the business, I knew it wouldn’t be at all possible. I spent the next four years overhauling the business, covering finance, logistics, sales, customer service, and marketing building a team that had placed it in a very strong position for the future. My project was then adjusted to prepare the business in readiness for investment, and having achieved that goal the project was completed. I subsequently sold my shares in the business, and began the journey of creating my own brand, offering European design and accessible luxury products, with superior materials, manufacturing and components and a customer journey unseen by others. The inception of Nôsa was then created.

Nôsa emphasizes design and functionality in its products. Could you share your approach to achieving this balance?

The design is all about minimalist arrangements and contemporary design. Such arrangements balance functionality and form, provide visual lightness, and, most importantly, enable us to unleash our creativity, without which the creation of unconventional projects wouldn’t be possible.

Quality is paramount in the manufacturing sector. How does Nôsa ensure consistent quality across the product range?

To ensure product consistency and accuracy, we implement rigorous quality control measures throughout the production process. Utilize precision testing equipment, establish clear quality standards, and conduct regular inspections. Coupled with using high-end componentry, such as Blum hinges, Sedal cartridges and Neopearl Aerators.

What are some techniques or technologies that Nôsa uses in its manufacturing processes?

We use lots of specialist techniques for our manufacturing processes, such as using high-grade materials, and coating methods such as “PVD” which stands for Physical Vapor Deposition. PVD Coating refers to a variety of thin film deposition techniques where a solid material is vaporized in a vacuum environment and deposited on substrates as a pure material or alloy composition coating. In short, this is a very effective way of ensuring high-quality painting techniques for all our taps, showers and accessories.

Sustainability is increasingly important. How does Nôsa include eco-friendly practices in its manufacturing operations?

Of course – Sustainability is at the forefront of Nôsas core principles, and as such we have developed a range of products which are sustainable such as; low water capacity flushing on all of our toilets, boiling water filter taps – which use less energy than a conventional kettle. The filtered chilled water option rules out the requirement for purchasing plastic bottled water from the supermarkets. Additionally, our partner manufacturers use sustainable processes and materials. The woods used on our vanity units are FSC forest management certified. This confirms that the forest is being managed in a way that preserves biological diversity and benefits the lives of local people and workers while ensuring it sustains economic viability. FSC-certified forests are managed to strict environmental, social and economic standards, and are a key manufacturing requirement for Nôsa products

Can you discuss any exciting collaborations or partnerships that have been involved in Nôsa’s growth?

We have some very exciting discussions ongoing and will be releasing these in the coming months in line with the launch of some exclusive products and brands – watch this space!

The bathroom industry is exciting, how does Nôsa stay ahead of trends and anticipate the ever-evolving needs of customers?

Analyze past trends
Stay on top of industry news
Visit related trade shows as often as possible
Conduct market research
Experiment and take risks
Embrace new technologies and innovations
Identify your customer needs
Experiment with new technologies and tools
Train and empower your team

Customer satisfaction is crucial, so how does Nôsa gather feedback and incorporate it into product development and improvement?

Incorporating customer feedback into our product cycle is necessary not only at the pre-development stage but also after launching a product. It allows the team at Nôsa to explore new ideas about making our product better. This can be collected through various methods such as discussing it with our customers, product ratings, and customer reviews. Product feedback from these methods represents a quick way of gathering customer feedback, allowing the business to understand if there are any changes to be made, should they need it.

As the owner, what challenges have you encountered in leading Nôsa, and how have you overcome them?

Being the CEO and Co-founder, obstacles and challenges are with you every day, that’s part of the entrepreneurial journey! As Nôsa is a young business, I am also very much in the detail ensuring systems and processes are being implemented whilst overseeing all staff and departments. The more general challenges that I am always mindful of, and have a duty to maintain are; Inspiring others, developing my employees, leading the team, guiding change, managing stakeholders, and setting goals for myself and team.

Looking towards the future, what are your visions for Nôsa in terms of growth, where do you see the company in five years?

We will be an international brand within five years, with plans already in place to launch a European website within the next 12 to 18 months. We will not only cover bathroom products, but flooring and wall tiles, hardware, lighting and living accessories. I want Nosa to be a household brand, synonymous with beautifully crafted products at accessible pricing, with a customer journey that’s like no other.
