Kromo – New Sustainable Menswear Label Tackling The Plastic in Our Ocean
Introducing Kromo Menswear: A Sustainable London Label
Kromo Menswear is a newly launched sustainable fashion label based in London, founded by designer Miguel Munoz’s passion for cleaning up our plastic-polluted oceans. Kromo’s mission is to combat global warming by reducing the fashion industry’s carbon footprint, which currently contributes “8.1% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions”. This must change.
Eco-Friendly Garments and the Founder’s Vision
New sustainable menswear brand Kromo has launched its eco-friendly garments, available on their website. Founder and designer Miguel Munoz created the brand driven by his passion for sustainability and greener living.
From garment creation and packaging to water use and material selection, Miguel has embedded sustainability into every aspect of his menswear label.
Tackling Ocean Plastic Pollution
As much as “20% to 35% of all primary source microplastics in the marine environment come from synthetic clothing.” This stark fact inspired Miguel Munoz to launch Kromo Menswear, supporting efforts to clean our oceans. Kromo aims to produce durable, eco-friendly clothing that reduces waste in oceans and worldwide.
The Debut Collection: Style Meets Sustainability
The label’s first collection features two sustainable fabrics, offering sleek, simplistic garments such as branded T-shirts, vests, and shorts. It blends functionality, comfort, and vibrant style defining the Kromo brand. Kromo also supports the sustainable movement by donating £1 from every purchase to Surfers Against Sewage, a charity dedicated to protecting oceans, waves, beaches, and wildlife.
“Sustainability is at the forefront of Kromo’s focus. I want to better our world for generations to come through fashion and reduce environmental waste.” – Miguel Munoz, sustainable designer and founder of Kromo
Premium Eco-Fabrics
The fabrics are high-quality, durable, lightweight, and eco-friendly. T-shirts and vests are 96% bamboo, while the swimwear line and shorts use ECONYL®, 100% regenerated nylon from abandoned fishnets and ocean-extracted nylon waste.
A standout piece is the Brazilian-inspired swim briefs, favoured on Copacabana and Ipanema beaches: flat-fronted, tight around the legs, and loose at the waist – ideal for sunbathing or swimming.
Ethical Production and Packaging
Beyond materials, production is ethical: water is reused, harmful chemicals avoided. Clothes are designed and produced in London with a local manufacturer upholding strict standards – minimising fabric waste, paying fair wages, and sourcing UK/Europe-knitted fabrics with fair trade certification.
Packaging is sustainable too: garments wrapped in paper with recycled stickers; mailers combine compostable PBAT (bio-based polymer) and PLA (plant-based cornstarch), breaking down in 180 days. Certified by TUV Austria to international standards.
