Lyss & Vay Candle Co. was founded by Janene Francis at the peak of the global pandemic.
A Passion for Luxury Candles
I have always been a lover of luxury premium candles and relished having them in the home. However, I always saved them for special occasions. 2020 was the year when a simple moment of calm and peace became a necessity that we all deserved to indulge in every day. I found myself burning candles every evening, savouring the warm ambience and taking time out to truly appreciate how something so simple helped calm my brain when the world seemed to be turning upside down.
From Passion Project to Business
Initially, Lyss and Vay was a passion project. It helped me to stay busy during furlough as a property manager. I created scents for friends and family to make them smile. As the year progressed, my friends started to ask me for their own unique candles to gift to their family members. I noticed that there was a gap in the market for premium candles at an affordable price.
In August 2020, I launched my signature collection that consisted of 12 scents. The most famous scent is Dark Honey & Tobacco—clients are always intrigued by the name but pleasantly surprised once they smell it.
Luxurious and Sustainable Craftsmanship
My goal was to create a luxurious and sustainable brand. Therefore, all our candles are hand-poured using natural soy wax instead of paraffin; our specialist oils are free from synthetic additives. We also only use wooden wicks—the wicks last longer and create a soothing crackling sound.
Our packaging is biodegradable and recyclable, and we encourage customers to reuse our candle jars in the home. We now have a variety of large candles in our collection, as well as a set of travel candles in four different fragrances so our customers can take their scent with them wherever they go.
New Christmas Collection
We have just launched our Christmas collection of candles and wax melts in a selection of popular seasonal fragrances, such as winter pine, mulled wine, and gingerbread.
