Introducing the Laureato Chronograph Aston Martin Edition
The Laureato Chronograph Aston Martin Edition is the latest timepiece borne of the partnership between Girard-Perregaux and Aston Martin. The dial is presented in the ultra-luxury marque’s traditional Racing Green colourway. This limited-edition watch is now available worldwide at authorised Girard-Perregaux retailers.
The partnership, first revealed in early 2021, has fostered a genuine friendship between the two brands, leading to the creation of this exceptional timepiece. Its styling masterfully plays with shapes, textures, and light, tailored to those who appreciate luxury and performance. Collectively, the companies have amassed over 330 years of know-how, evident in their creations. While respecting their heritage, they share a resolutely forward-thinking outlook.
Back in the early 1900s, various colours were assigned to racing cars to distinguish nationalities. French cars were blue, Italian cars red, Belgian yellow, German silver, and British cars British Racing Green. As a British marque, Aston Martin adopted green as its racing colour, most famously with the DBR1 that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1959. From that car to today’s Formula 1® machines, Aston Martin’s racing colour remains green.
The dial is suffused with a delightfully decadent application of ‘Aston Martin Green’, achieved by applying paint twenty-one times to form seven distinct layers. Automotive influences include cross-hatching, a diamond-like pattern from the marque’s early ‘AM’ logo (1921–1926), inspired by quilted seats in its high-performance sports cars.
Patrick Pruniaux, CEO of Girard-Perregaux, said: ‘Our Manufacture has a long history of collaborations, beginning with our founder Jean-François Bautte, who brought different “établisseurs” together under one roof, creating one of the first Manufactures as we know them today. Our partnership with Aston Martin has yielded two exceptional timepieces and marks the beginnings of a true friendship between our brands and teams. The Laureato Chronograph Aston Martin Edition is evidence of that mutual understanding and shared philosophy.’
Marek Reichman, Aston Martin Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer, added: ‘As Aston Martin and Girard-Perregaux strengthen our partnership, our common design ethos—geared towards discreet luxury—is evident in subtle touches. The partially openworked hour and minute hands evoke racing cars, eschewing extraneous material for superior performance. The central chronograph seconds hand features a counterweight resembling the side strakes first seen on the 1958 Aston Martin DB4.’
Three counters grace the dial: two chronograph registers and a small seconds display. Each features a partially openworked hand with a snailed central section. A date display is positioned at 04:30.
Sporting an octagonal bezel, the profile honours the iconic Laureato of 1975. The case masterfully plays with shapes, curves, facets, and lines, with satin-finished and polished edges creating a wonderful interplay of light.
A sapphire crystal caseback reveals the automatic Manufacture Calibre GP03300-0141—the first Laureato Chronograph with an open caseback. Based on the renowned GP03300, it features Côtes de Genève (circular and straight), polished sinks, thermally blued screws, perlage, and the eagle emblem denoting an in-house calibre.
Housed in a 42 mm 904L stainless steel case, this superior grade offers enhanced corrosion and scratch resistance with a brighter, more luxurious appearance. The bracelet matches with a satin-brushed finish.
The Laureato Chronograph Aston Martin Edition celebrates the past while embracing the future, blending functionality, beauty, and heritage. This resonates with both marques, reinforcing their alliance. Limited to 188 pieces, it is available now at authorised Girard-Perregaux retailers worldwide.
