When you walk through the door of Casa Roots restaurant next to Antigua’s famous Runaway Bay, the first thing that strikes you is the seamless blend of casual French elegance and Caribbean rustic chic. This is precisely what owner and head chef, Frenchman Sylvain Hervochon, and his wife Nadine envisioned when they opened the eatery in 2019. They created a space they themselves would love—a unpretentious yet cosy venue, chic and earthy, serving locally sourced organic fare. The restaurant’s philosophy centres on stimulating your senses through delightful décor and ambience, impeccable service, and an extraordinary culinary experience.

Chef Sylvain’s Global Expertise Meets Antiguan Roots

Sylvain’s 30 years of culinary experience have taken him across the globe, from owning a restaurant in France and working in the Galapagos Islands to his recent role as Executive Chef at Rosewood Jumby Bay. Yet opening Casa Roots felt like coming home for the couple, and diners echo this sentiment after a leisurely lunch or dinner with friends at this laid-back gem. The food philosophy elevates the freshest local ingredients with the chef’s creative flair, blending West Indian flavours with that quintessential French je ne sais quoi. As Sylvain says, “It’s all about simplicity when the ingredient is the star. I just need to enhance it with the right balance of spice and love.”

Perfectly nestled between a peaceful garden and a beautiful cove on Antigua’s Runaway Beach, Casa Roots offers the ideal backdrop for business lunches, romantic dinners, sunset cocktails in the perfectly lit garden lounge, or sunbathing on the beach.
