This newly opened sophisticated restaurant just off Oxford Street is an elegant and stylish spot, perfectly placed for a post-shopping dining experience, a fun family or friends celebration, or just a great excuse for a delicious lunch or dinner treat.

The décor is plush, with soft velvets in muted shades, marble touches and artwork of their very own vineyards adorning the walls. The lighting is soft and romantic, creating the perfect ambience.

We began our lunchtime treat with a cocktail sitting at the oval bar, watching the mixologist work his magic. We chose margaritas from the huge cocktail list while we checked out the à la carte menu. The sommelier and mixologist were both friendly and eager to ensure we chose the correct wine or cocktail to go with our chosen dishes.

It was a stunning day, so we decided to dine al fresco. The modern European menu features so many exciting choices, from a great selection of fish and shellfish to more substantial dishes from the grill, such as steak or burgers.

I chose my favourite, mussels marinière, cooked with white wine, parsley and shallots, served with piping hot fries. My husband decided to have the burrata, another one of my favourites; it was served with broad beans and celery, dressed with a caramelised grapefruit and basil dressing. Both dishes were so fresh and light, the perfect beginning to such a beautiful lunch.

After a short break, I went for the lamb shoulder; it was served with Jersey Royal potatoes, aubergine caviar and lamb jus. My husband chose the classic 28-50 cheeseburger, loaded with iceberg lettuce, pickles and chipotle mayo, and of course it came with steaming hot fries. We were so excited; the presentation was great, the food delicious and the wine perfect.

We took our time on this sunny Saturday lunchtime, watching the world go by and giving ourselves a little digestive break. We then both chose the rhubarb mousse, served with strawberry and lemon verbena—so refreshing and light, the perfect finale.

There are so many fabulous restaurants in London; we’re spoilt for choice, so many cuisines to choose from. But to find somewhere where the entire experience is perfect is rare. The service from each and every team member at 28-50 Oxford Circus was faultless; they were friendly and knowledgeable. The décor is stunning and comfortable, the award-winning ‘Collectors List’ showcasing rare wines is impressive, as is the cocktail list. Top all of this off with amazing cuisine and you have the 5-star experience we all hanker for.
