Six by Nico – A bounty of flavour is packed into every dish
Discovering Six by Nico’s Innovative Concept
This week I had the pleasure of dining at a restaurant that changes its menu every six weeks. The concept offers a six-course tasting menu inspired by a particular theme, changing to something different every six weeks.
Nico Simeone launched the first Six by Nico restaurant in Finnieston, Glasgow, in 2017, followed by his second in Edinburgh in 2018. By 2019, he had opened locations in Belfast, Manchester, Liverpool, and London’s Fitzrovia. In 2021, Six by Nico Canary Wharf was born.
A Greek-Inspired Feast at Canary Wharf
Six by Nico Canary Wharf boasts beautiful views of the River Thames. The theme of our meal was Greece-inspired, with wine pairings influenced by the party town of Mykonos. Upon entering, the restaurant’s energy felt welcoming with a warm vibe, and the staff were most accommodating.
Once seated, we chose from three tasting menus: meat, vegetarian, or the newly added vegan option. You can even swap dishes between menus, adding flexibility that enhanced the wow factor. We sat facing the open kitchen, which infused the evening with atmosphere as we watched our dishes being prepared.
Perfectly Portioned Courses
Before visiting, I wondered if a tasting menu would leave us hungry with tiny portions—but I was wrong. The courses were well-proportioned, and I left feeling very contented.
Stand-Out Dishes
My favourites included the chickpea and roasted garlic hummus—mouth-watering even to recall—served with warm, toasted pitta bread and a dash of Greek olive oil. My guest and I shared a top pick: stone sea bass with courgette, green olive tapenade, crispy squid, and lemon emulsion. The cauliflower steak was out of this world, flavoured with green harissa, spicy chilli paste, almonds, and couscous.
Why Return to Six by Nico
My first six-course meal exceeded expectations, with immense variety and lively discussions of our favourites. I recommend it year-round—the changing menus make each visit unique. For foodies, it’s perfect, with tastebuds duly rewarded.
Six by Nico offers great value: £44 per person for six courses, £35 extra for wine pairings. New menus every six weeks feel like dining somewhere fresh—ideal for regular date nights.
The Greece menu runs from Monday 29th August for six weeks until 9th October across all sites, including Canary Wharf. Bookings are open for Aberdeen, Belfast, Dublin, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool, London Fitzrovia, and Manchester here.
