KYDO: Masters of Luxury Interior Design

The team of experts at KYDO pride themselves on offering inventive interior design and signature craftsmanship across a range of commercial and residential projects. That is why the panel of experts at Luxury Lifestyle Awards has chosen KYDO as the winner of a prestigious award in the category of Best Luxury Restaurant Interior Design 2022 for Dikeyuwo in Taiwan. This is the second year they have been recognised with such an award.

The company was established in Taipei in 2011 by founder and director Liao KengYu and is renowned for transforming spaces into artistic creations. Whether it is a low-key private project, luxurious restaurant renovation, or redesign of a palatial space, KengYu’s vision, which spans Eastern and Western cultures, is reflected through tailor-made, exclusive details and expert craftsmanship. He believes every space should tell a unique story while creating a feeling of harmony and comfort for easy everyday living.

Dikeyuwo: A Multi-Functional Oasis in Taipei

This year KYDO has been particularly recognised for Best Luxury Restaurant Interior Design 2022 for Dikeyuwo in Taipei, Taiwan. The space was originally home to Dick’s Place, the eponymous bar owned by Dick Chen, Taiwan’s first mixologist to run the bar at an international hotel chain. It reopened in 2021 as Dikeyuwo, offering a range of spaces fulfilling different functions, including a snack bar, cafe, bar, restaurant, tea room, and private venue.

Situated in a quiet Taipei alley, Dikeyuwo welcomes guests with many-layered surprises. Spread over two floors, each corner reveals a different personality, incorporating the historical elements of the city with its Japanese and European heritage while blending the past with the present. The result is a layout that encapsulates the spirit of Taiwan’s generous hospitality and inspires a sense of calm while harmoniously fulfilling six different functions.

Ground Floor Highlights

The sleek, open coffee bar greets visitors with its stylish palette of black, white, and grey and a speckled wall of unvarnished textures, the design team’s hallmark. The bar, with its traditional lacquer and wood-grained wall accents and tonal palettes of sienna, wood, and brown provides a warm and welcoming place to savour a refreshing drink.

Upstairs Serenity

The graceful pure white staircase leads to the second floor and the private rooms with their minimalist design paired with vintage Western furniture and large wooden tables. It is also home to the zen-like tearoom with its earthen walls and mineral paint finishes. KYDO has created a beautiful oasis for guests to escape, letting the textures and materials do the talking in a luxury space that is the perfect venue for relaxation and reflection.
