Twr y Felin Wales’ first contemporary art hotel
Discover Twr y Felin: Wales’ First Contemporary Art Hotel
Twr y Felin, a former windmill and Wales’ first contemporary art hotel in Wales’ smallest city of St Davids, Pembrokeshire, is home to the AA three-rosette fine dining Blas Restaurant, renowned for its exquisite ‘art on a plate’ dishes.
Luxurious Bedrooms and Stunning Art Collection
The hotel offers 41 luxurious bedrooms, including two accessible rooms, adorned with over 250 specially commissioned pieces of art. Each artwork was created with a brief to evoke the Pembrokeshire landscape in a fresh way. Artists interpreted this individually—some literally, others abstractly—resulting in a vibrant collection full of contrast, colour, design, and scale.
Most rooms showcase breathtaking views of the Pembrokeshire landscape, coastline, or St Davids, featuring super king beds that can be configured as doubles or twins. The majority of bathrooms include both a separate bath and shower, with toiletries from Aromatherapy Associates.
The Iconic Tyddewi Windmill Tower Suite
Particularly distinctive is the ‘Tyddewi’ Windmill Tower Suite, occupying three floors of the original windmill tower. It boasts spectacular 360-degree views of the St Davids peninsula from its private observatory. On clear days, glimpse the islands of Skomer, Grassholm, and Ramsey on the horizon of St Bride’s Bay, with the Preseli Hills providing an undulating backdrop to the marine landscape.
Blas Restaurant: Culinary Artistry
The ambient dining space in Blas Restaurant is surrounded by visual artworks reflecting the simplicity, elegance, and history of Twr y Felin. Meaning ‘Taste’ in Welsh, Blas holds three AA rosettes for its flavour-filled dishes, exquisitely presented as ‘art on a plate’ to mirror the hotel’s interiors. Created by Head Chef Sammy Owen and supported by Development Chef Gareth Evans, the menu offers experimental culinary experiences that delight the eyes and senses.
Inspired by the seasons and locality, dishes feature fresh fish and seafood from surrounding seas, locally farmed beef, duck, fowl, and Wales’ renowned lamb. Foraged ingredients like samphire and wild garlic add unique flair.
