Devour the delights of Revery Bar’s new afternoon tea
Revery Bar: Mayfair’s Luxurious Afternoon Tea Destination
Tea, cake, and cocktails—what more could one desire?
Afternoon tea, a quintessentially British tradition that transcends time, has found a new champion in Revery Bar. I had the pleasure of experiencing their reimagined “Tea, Cake and Cocktails” afternoon tea, which boldly presents a modern and playful twist on tradition and is a true testament to the culinary creativity of Revery’s award-winning pastry chefs.
A destination in its own right, Revery Bar has quickly become one of Mayfair’s most exciting venues. Deservingly known for its luxurious ambience and impeccable service, it occupies a coveted yet cosy spot within the London Hilton on Park Lane. The décor is a harmonious blend of contemporary chic and classic opulence, featuring plush seating, tasteful lighting, and a colour palette that exudes sophistication. Whether seated at the bar or at a more intimate table, the ambience is perfect for both relaxed conversations and celebratory occasions.
Impeccable Service and Interactive Mixology
From the moment we were welcomed by the Hilton’s hospitable doorman to the moment we departed, the afternoon tea experience was infused with contemporary flair and expertise. Service was discreet yet attentive, personable yet professional, and impeccably prompt. The team’s knowledge of the afternoon tea menu was unparalleled, offering helpful recommendations and suggestions for unique tea pairings without hesitation. They also explained each course as it arrived, guiding us on a journey of flavour and finesse.
Cocktail Tasting Like No Other
Something truly unique about this afternoon tea is the mixology experience. Our expert cocktail maker joined us tableside for an interactive and personalised sampling of five bespoke cocktails and two mocktails, all meticulously crafted in-house and each infused with a different tea from the menu. Following the tasting, we chose our favourites to enjoy alongside the food: the Hibiscus Kiss (a blend of Patrón, hibiscus, and pistachio tea-infused cordial) and the Pistachio Bliss (pistachio liqueur, amaretto, and cream)—both of which went down far too easily.
A Multi-Course Culinary Journey
The food and tea formed the main feature, served in several courses to maintain the interactive nature and build excitement. It began with an array of canapés, such as beetroot cheesecake and a black truffle macaroon with chicken liver pâté, followed by the delicious “Finger Feast” course. We stepped away from traditional finger sandwiches to indulge in reimagined savoury delights, like the deconstructed chicken Caesar with beet pearl and blue pea flower—a true feat of imagination with complementary flavours.
Scones, Pastries, and Vegan Options
The scones and sweet course arrived together: beautifully warm and delicate scones alongside three exquisite pastries. The carrot cheesecake was infused with citrus zest, while the triple chocolate sandwich was as rich as it was indulgent. Revery Bar caters effortlessly to dietary requirements, with a vegan afternoon tea that delivers both creativity and taste.
Premium Teas and Sweet Takeaways
No afternoon tea is complete without the tea itself, and Revery takes its selection seriously. Partnering with London Tea Exchange, they have curated 10 premium and rare teas from around the world to complement the food seamlessly—from the tantalising pistachio and truffle blend to soothing Egyptian chamomile. Before leaving, we received a selection of Revery’s pick ‘n’ mix sweets—a delightful touch for lovers of treats.
