Kings Head Cirencester a cozy and charming inn in the Cotswolds
Nestled in the heart of historic Cirencester, The Kings Head is the perfect blend of traditional charm and modern comfort. With its cozy interiors, roaring fireplaces, and beautifully restored period features, it offers a relaxing escape whether you’re in town for a weekend getaway or a special occasion.
Just steps from Cirencester’s quaint streets, boutique shops, and iconic market square, The Kings Head is as convenient as it is welcoming. Whether you’re stopping by for a meal or staying the night, expect attentive service, a warm atmosphere, and memories to linger long after you leave.
Ushering in a new era for this landmark venue, Brakspear has positioned the Kings Head as its flagship pub within its Honeycomb Houses estate. Fully re-opened on 26th September following a complete re-branding and comprehensive refurbishment of its public spaces, The Kings Head is now a relaxed town centre pub with hip brasserie and unique events spaces with 64 rooms (32 dog-friendly) offering a warm welcome to the local community and visitors to the area.
New head chef, Mathew Peter, joined the Kings Head brigade in January 2026, and brings with him a wealth of industry experience. Originally from India, Mathew began his career working on Cruise ships and travelling extensively across the globe. He then moved to the UK and obtained an M.A in Culinary Arts Management, before working as Sous Chef at the Kings Head’s sister property, The Frogmill, in 2022, and was promoted to head chef within a year.
The Kings Head is also a popular destination for private events such as weddings, parties, dinners and business meetings with an exceptional range of beautiful spaces available to hire. There’s the grand Georgian Lavender Hall with high ceilings, original wood panelling and chandeliers with adjacent lobby, outside roof terrace and cosy bar and an incredible vaulted cellar, dating from Roman times, with wine cellar and private, vaulted dining space, also with its own bar.
Upstairs, 64 individual rooms are all thoughtfully curated and furnished in contemporary style, whilst highlighting original features such as pitched ceilings, exposed stone walls, oak beams, fireplaces and Georgian wood panelling, depending on which part of the building you’re in. Rooms also feature luxury linens, Nespresso machines with local Rave coffee, daily homemade cookies, complimentary Wi-Fi, smart TVs, whilst en-suite bathrooms feature walk-in showers, some with free-standing baths and Bramley toiletries.
