Tucked away in the heart of Cirencester, The Fleece is the kind of Cotswolds hotel that instantly feels special. Full of character, charm and beautiful boutique touches, it perfectly captures the relaxed elegance you hope to find from a countryside escape, while being right in the centre of one of the Cotswolds’ prettiest market towns.

Our stay began with a warm welcome from the team, and it was the staff who quickly became one of the biggest highlights of our visit. Nothing ever felt too much trouble, and their attention to detail and genuinely friendly approach made us feel incredibly well looked after throughout our stay. Travelling with our little boy, this meant even more. The team were wonderful with him, making him feel so welcome and turning what could have simply been a lovely hotel stay into a truly memorable family experience.

Our boutique-style bedroom was full of Cotswolds character, with beautiful wooden beams adding to its cosy, historic feel. One of the standout features was the gorgeous freestanding bath… the perfect place to unwind after a day exploring Cirencester. It was a room that managed to feel both luxurious and homely, with plenty of those thoughtful touches that make a stay feel that little bit more special.

And then there was the food! It was incredible. From the quality of the ingredients to the presentation and flavours, dining at The Fleece was undoubtedly another highlight of our stay. There is something wonderful about being able to settle in for a delicious meal without having to venture far, and the food here certainly lived up to the setting.

The location is another reason The Fleece makes such a wonderful base for exploring the Cotswolds. Cirencester itself is full of charm, with independent shops, boutiques, cafés and regular markets to wander around. We loved simply taking our time exploring the town, soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying the quintessentially Cotswolds feel.

The following morning, breakfast was the perfect way to round off our stay. After a restful night, sitting down to a delicious breakfast before heading home felt like the ideal ending to a wonderful Cotswolds escape.

The Fleece is somewhere that combines character, comfort, exceptional food and genuinely wonderful hospitality – but it was the people who made our stay truly memorable. Their kindness towards our little boy and the way they made our family feel so welcome is something we will remember long after leaving.
