A New Kitchen Essential? We’re Putting Quel Tap to the Test
As my kitchen renovation starts to come together, we’ve been thinking just as much about the little details as the big ones. The kitchen is designed to be beautiful, of course, but it also needs to work for everyday family life, and anything that can make the space feel a little more streamlined has our attention.
One of the latest additions we’re particularly excited to introduce is the Quel Ultimo 6-in-1, from Quel Tap, formerly Aquataps.
The idea behind Quel Tap is wonderfully simple: what if all the water you need in the kitchen could come from one beautifully designed tap?
Rather than having a kettle taking up valuable worktop space, a filter jug occupying the fridge and bottles of sparkling water waiting to be recycled, the Quel Ultimo brings six functions together in one system.
From a single tap, it provides filtered boiling water, filtered cold water, filtered chilled water, filtered sparkling chilled water, as well as standard hot and cold water.
Six waters. One tap. The moment you ask.
It’s the sort of kitchen addition that promises to make a surprisingly big difference to everyday life. Instant boiling water for morning coffee or cooking, chilled filtered water ready to pour, sparkling water for dinner, and everything else you’d normally expect from your kitchen tap, all without adding more appliances to the worktops.
And for our new kitchen, the design element is just as important.
The Quel Ultimo has a sleek, minimalist look, with premium finishes designed to complement rather than compete with the rest of the kitchen. With our own plans for a classic-meets-contemporary space, we’re particularly interested to see how it works alongside our cabinetry and other finishes.
There’s also the practical side. The integrated boiler and chiller sit neatly beneath the worktop, while one filtration system helps with limescale and improves the taste of drinking water. The system also uses a connected CO₂ cylinder to create sparkling water, with carbonation adjustable to personal preference.
For a busy family kitchen, it certainly sounds appealing.
We’re also intrigued by the potential to reduce some of the everyday kitchen clutter. No separate kettle, filter jug or sparkling-water machine competing for space, and potentially far less reliance on single-use plastic water bottles too.
Of course, we’re not going to tell you whether it lives up to all of that just yet…
Our Quel Ultimo is due to be installed, and we’ll be putting it properly through its paces over the coming months. From that first morning coffee and filling up water bottles to cooking, entertaining and simply getting through everyday family life, we’re keen to see how much of a difference having six water functions from one tap actually makes.
We’ll be sharing our full thoughts once we’ve had the chance to live with it, including the installation, design, functionality and, most importantly, whether it genuinely makes life in the kitchen easier.
For now, though, we’re very excited to see water, beautifully controlled, become part of our new kitchen.
Premium functionality without the premium price tag
One of the things that caught our attention about Quel Tap is that the brand sells directly through its website rather than relying on a traditional showroom network. The aim is to offer premium design and multifunctional performance at a more accessible price point.
The wider Quel Tap range starts from £499.99 for its 4-in-1 boiling-water taps, while its sparkling-water systems combine boiling, chilled and sparkling water in one system.
Replacement filters and consumables are also available individually or through a subscription service, helping to keep the ongoing costs straightforward.
Installation is designed to be just as simple. Each system arrives as a complete kit with the tap, boiler, filtration equipment and required fittings, alongside printed instructions and step-by-step video guides. For those who would rather leave it to a professional, a qualified installer can also take care of the installation.
And should you need a little help along the way, Quel Tap has a UK-based customer service team available to support customers with everything from choosing a model and finish to installation, maintenance and replacement parts.
With next-day UK delivery and a five-year warranty on the tap, there’s plenty to like on paper. Now we’re looking forward to finding out what it’s actually like to live with one.
