The resort caters for a wide variety of visitors from honeymooners to families with children of all ages. Located in southeast Mauritius, it offers guests a quieter, more laid-back stay away from busier tourist areas such as Flic en Flac and Le Morne, for a more peaceful holiday.

It is conveniently located near Mahébourg International Airport, which is only 15 minutes away, with direct flights from many European cities. Uber operates here in Mauritius, alongside many independent taxi companies, making the connection from the airport to the resort effortless.

Security Teams Work 24/7 to Ensure Guest Security

No one can pass without speaking to the security team and explaining their reason for visiting the resort. On the beach, a team of security guards patrols to keep guests safe.

On-site Parking

The resort offers free, on-site parking should you wish to hire a car during your stay in Mauritius. The parking spaces are monitored by the security team and are conveniently located directly outside the hotel for ultimate convenience.

The Infinity Pool

This is available to all guests, with plenty of high-quality sun loungers for guests to enjoy. The view from the infinity pool at sunset cannot be missed. A beach bar offers cooling drinks and light refreshments throughout the day, served by friendly, welcoming staff. Mocktails are popular here, as well as the opportunity to enjoy alcoholic beverages along with a selection of ice creams.

Preskil offers guests some of the most beautiful views in all of Mauritius. Panoramic views over the crystal-clear lagoon with spectacular views of Lion Mountain; these are one of the main reasons guests choose to stay here. Guests who love hiking can marvel at Lion Mountain, one of Mauritius’s many iconic peaks.

Reception Area

A large and spacious reception area greets you as you walk through the door at Preskil. It is well laid out and is clean and fresh. The team here are polite and professional and present a positive first impression of the hotel. The manager is available if you need to speak with him about any concerns you might have during your stay. There is plenty of seating and areas to relax; it is a genuinely fantastic space to spend time.

Upon check-in, you are given a refreshing small glass of fresh sugarcane drink and a cold towel, the perfect touch after a long flight. Every detail at check-in is designed to make you feel relaxed and comfortable. They handle all your check-in needs and arrange delivery of your luggage directly to your room. If you’d like to be taken to your room on a golf buggy, this can be arranged.

After dark, lanterns and candles transform the area; every space feels relaxing and welcoming. The warm welcome at reception is one of the many reasons this hotel is considered a luxury destination.

The Hotel Features 214 Contemporary Rooms

These are decorated in cool tones of white, teak, and marble. They are fresh and clean, with a simple design, offering spacious accommodation and daily maid service. Sea views are also on offer. The balconies are large, with plenty of seating, making it a pleasant place to read and relax after a hard day. Fresh bottled water is offered daily in a beautiful, stylish glass bottle that feels very elegant. A selection of high-quality toiletries are on offer for guests to enjoy.

Service

The hotel provides friendly, honest, and welcoming service to all guests from check-in throughout your stay at Preskil. A dedicated staff member is available on WhatsApp if you have a problem, and they respond quickly and professionally, resolving any issue with minimal fuss.

The Banyan Spa and Wellness Centre

Offering a host of spa and wellness treatments from traditional massages to holistic gemology treatments to hammam, you can find a treatment to suit. The spa utilises local, natural ingredients such as pineapple and coconut to provide signature scrubs. When we stayed, they had a coffee scrub on offer which was exceptional. The spa reception offers a friendly welcome and a clean, fresh environment for well-deserved relaxation. With an extensive treatment menu, there is something for everyone – couples, men, women and children, along with specialist pregnancy treatments.

State-of-the-art Gym and Changing Facilities

This allows guests to maintain the active lifestyle they enjoy at home. A good selection of cardio equipment and weight machines is available in a fully air-conditioned studio, providing maximum comfort for your workout. Fresh towels are available, along with access to water fountains. A good selection of background music helps create an enjoyable workout environment, so you don’t need to worry if you forget your headphones. Tennis courts are also on-site, free of charge for guests to use. Generous opening hours give guests plenty of flexibility during their stay. Early morning or late-night workouts can be accommodated.

Restaurants

Mosaic, the à la carte restaurant, provides some of the warmest service I have experienced at a hotel. Dylan and his team work tirelessly to welcome you into the Preskil family and ensure your dining experience is magical every night you dine with them. The beautifully designed menu offers fresh ingredients every night of the week, with each dish being freshly prepared to order by the talented chef. There is an extensive wine list. They cater to allergies and preferences with ease, making for a truly relaxed experience for diners with special requirements.

1810 is the resort’s beachfront à la carte restaurant designed to offer guests a different dining experience. The beachfront setting creates a romantic and special atmosphere. Once a week, guests can dine at a beach BBQ, where the team presents a wide selection of freshly prepared meat, fish, and vegetable dishes served with the widest selection of accompaniments I have seen. The atmosphere is lively, but service still feels attentive, and guests are always made to feel special as they dine with the waves lapping in the background.

Rendez-Vous, the hotel’s main restaurant, offers a wide selection of dishes served buffet style. A team of talented chefs prepares all dishes using fresh local ingredients, offering variety every night. With a fresh cuisine-themed night every night of the week, you are never short of something new to try. Stations such as the pizza oven provide freshly cooked pizzas with a variety of toppings every night. Live cooking stations are popular, drawing in crowds of curious diners.

Medley Bar is the hotel’s late-night bar. With live, high-quality entertainment and music every night of the week, you are never short of somewhere to go in the evening to be entertained. The bar offers an extensive gin and wine menu, along with a selection of cocktails and mocktails, all served with a smile by the friendly bar staff.

Watersports

A wide selection of water sports is on offer from the dedicated water sports hut located on the beach. Guests can enjoy everything from paddle boarding to pedalos. The team here are always friendly. Preskil Island Resort offers these premium water sports free of charge. One of the best on offer is the glass-bottom boat to Blue Bay Marine Park, home to some of Mauritius’ healthiest coral gardens. There is also an excellent snorkelling trip on offer. You can also pay a small supplement to ride the fast-paced tube ride. This is particularly popular with the younger guests.

Final Thoughts

Having stayed at Preskil Island Resort, it is clear to see why guests return year after year. What stands out most is the friendly service you receive throughout the hotel, particularly at Mosaic a la carte restaurant and the boat kiosk for water sports. The clean, crisp rooms with large balconies and exceptional sea views made it such a memorable experience for my family and me. We plan to return in the future.
