New SMITH Backcast Sunglasses Reel-In Style and Performance
Tight lines and perfect casts rely on good gear and crystal-clear vision to spot the next big catch.
Continually empowering anglers with fresh, progressive eyewear, SMITH debuts the new Backcast sunglasses with ChromaPop™ lens technology for adventures both on and off the water.
Offering full coverage in a 6-base modest wrap design, the Backcast is comprised of lightweight and durable Evolve™ bio-based frame material and includes strategic, low-profile frame chamfers to mitigate perspiration and moisture away from the lens. Additional frame features include Megol temple and nose pads for a non-slip grip, flex hinges for a snug, comfortable fit, and temple tip holes to add a retainer for extra security.
Designed with glare-cutting polarisation that enhances contrast and depth perception, the Backcast is available in a variety of ChromaPop lens solutions – including Polarised, Glass Polarised, and Glass PolarChromic options – that all include smudge, oil, and moisture-resistant coatings for easy cleaning and clear optics. The Backcast is offered in six lens tint options, including Smith’s all-new ChromaPop Glass Polarchromic Rose Blue Mirror lens for a bolder experience on the water. Ideal for overcast, hazy, and low-light conditions, the new self-adjusting tint changes from category 2 (21% VLT*) to category 3 (10% VLT*) with 100% UV protection to excel in flat or diffused light environments.
The Backcast (MSRP $217-$307 depending on lens option) is available Fall 2025 at Smith Optics and select speciality retailers worldwide.
*VLT: Visible Light Transmission reflects how much light passes through the lens. Higher percentages equate to a lighter lens and are good for low light, and lower percentages offer a darker lens tint for bright, sunny days.
