As English wine continues its rise, Hambledon Wine Estate unveils its latest exciting new addition to the family: The English Cuvée: a fresh, fruit-forward sparkling wine created with modern drinkers in mind.

Widely recognised as the birthplace of English wine, Hambledon Wine Estate’s latest release offers a deliciously accessible expression of English sparkling wine, without a single compromise on quality.

Where Hambledon’s flagship wines reward patience, this is a wine designed to be enjoyed now. Fresh, fruit-forward and full of confidence, it showcases everything that makes Hambledon one of England’s most celebrated estates: chalk-grown character, ripe pear and apricot on the nose, a touch of sweet brioche and a smooth, creamy finish.

Made from a classic blend of Chardonnay (54%), Pinot Noir (38%) and Pinot Meunier (8%) and aged for over 27 months, it delivers all the quality and complexity of a serious English sparkling wine in a more approachable style. Positioned firmly in the sweet spot for premium-but-attainable sparkling, it offers a compelling homegrown alternative to Champagne for everything from celebrations to casual drinks and is a natural starting point for anyone trying English sparkling wine for the first time.

Visually, the bottle elegantly makes a statement. The chalk-toned palette with elegant bronze lettering is embossed with ox-eye daisies, cornflowers, dandelion, willowherb, and wild marjoram, inspired by the natural cover crops growing between Hambledon’s vines in the South Downs, reflecting the estate’s focus on biodiversity and regenerative viticulture.

Nestled in the picturesque village of Hambledon, Hampshire, within the South Downs National Park, Hambledon is the birthplace of English wine – the vineyard was established in 1952 by Major-General Sir Guy Salisbury-Jones with the assistance of friends at Pol Roger. They were the first to plant Chardonnay in England.

Today, under the ownership of Berry Bros. & Rudd and Symington Family Estates, Hambledon is investing heavily in both sustainability and visitor experiences, including its recently opened restaurant: nearly one year since opening, The Restaurant and its al fresco space, The Courtyard, have quickly become one of Hampshire’s most talked-about dining destinations.

Led by executive chef Rob McCleary (formerly of The Modern Pantry), the kitchen champions an ingredient-led approach, with menus shaped by the estate’s own kitchen garden, foraged elements and carefully sourced local produce. The new English Cuvée by Hambledon Wine Estate will be available to purchase from Waitrose and Sainsbury’s from early October, at an RRP of £33.
